Indian Idol 3, 7th June 07: Boys are back with a bang …

Its result round for girls this time …. I am even now upset with the result as before writing this one, I have seen the show. Anyway, let me start ….

Alisha: Smita (Of course), Vertika and Shifa.

Jaaved Ji: Richa, Shifa and Vertika.

Udit Ji: Harshida, Vertika and Richa.

Anu Malik: a lot of advices to all the contestants. The three names were Richa, Vertika and Smita.

Girl’s view was against Ankita and also Richa and Shifa’s name were added in the same list. Richa were given a much faster safe chit. She was not needed to wait for even a minute and got the verdict. Then the girls were divided in two groups; four were safe and four were in bottom four and finally the bottom four came out to be:

Smita, Shifa, Vertika and Harshida.

Jaaved Sir was of opinion to save Smita, Alisha was of opinion to save Harshida and Udit Ji was of choice to save Shifa. Obvious choices as I was expecting from each side.

Smita said that she is being voted out because of her looks and Jaaved Ji said, although it only her right to say so, but he rather agree her point, that public go with looks rather than singing only, it’s a bitter fact. He was angry over public and said that public should have chosen models to be singers. Alisha made the point that she was not outstanding to hide her weakness about the performance. She thought that she has reached to enough extent.

Jaaved Sir was bitter about saying that what simplicity you people are talking about? You are saying the same thing in just a few polite words. Udit Ji was not able to speak much. The verdict came out without delaying it by some drama and given the verdict in favour of Smita.

I was heart broken on loosing Shifa. First Aisha and then Shifa, I must say, if the wild card entries are not going to be favour in one of these two, then Indian Idol is going to loose the charm. Jaaved Ji were quite happy over the same.

Now, I am coming over the boy’s performances.

Bhavin: “Deewana Tera” Brave choice of song. Don’t dare to choose this one, if you are not confident enough as even orchestra’s mistakes seem to be yours. But I should say that you gave justice to the song and also your own touch.

Jaaved Sir was happy. Alisha said him the horse of long races and also the performance as knock out one. Udit Ji said that last performance was better. Although Bhavin agreed over the same, but Jaaved Ji interrupted to say that this one was better.

Abhishek: “Yeh Dil Diwana” What’s going on? Everyone is trying to catch up Sonu’s high nodes. He was sure happy, if was there. Song was nice, voice was nice and his performance was having the same energy level. What a comeback Abhishek… bravo … On request of Hussain, he even removed his cap.

Alisha was happy and Jaaved Ji said that he must be in Top Five. Although it gone into humor, but everyone should note the point as Jaaved Ji is not going to say such words in a hurry. Udit Ji were also happy with Abhishek and said parents blessing is with him.

Emon: “Suno Na” Nice song, nice attitude, nice voice as always. He has not that X-Factor to me, but sure nice voice control. Everyone praised him, but Jaaved Ji said that it was not his best. Alisha wished to see him without the glasses and Emon did the same.

He was asked to emote Judges and he copied there styles in funny ways. It was a funny moment to keep up for later. By the way, nice mimicry of Anu Ji, you are Alisha’s favourite in now days.

Amit: “Phulo Ke Rang Se” Everything was nice, but the song was not suiting over you. My only comment. Judges were happy over his performance and everyone said it very good.

Amit I hope that you may stay longer, so I could see more of you.

Suhit: “Chahata Hu Tujhe” Although I was not familiar with the song, but I felt that he was better than other days and I was not able to find his mistakes.

I was not happy with the rudeness Judges have shown over him. I know its going to be crucial for him and even if he survives, then he will loose a section of votes. I am sad about him as his all hard work and efforts are now in vein.

Parleen: “Ramataa Jogi” Nice song, nice attitude and mood. It was tough song in deed and I should say bravo over this. Although there were points from Judges, but I know he will survive these stages to reach to final 10, if keeps on performing like this.

    Good Luck, Parleen.

Chang: “Tum Aaye To” Decent look and innocence over face. Sure, he has competition with girls only, but be aware, it a reality show too. Hoping that, the main concentration would be over singing till the end. Song was nice and feel was nice. There was a personal touch in song.

Jaaved Sir said that there is a kind of relaxation in his voice, which came as a rare package. Alisha felt something from his voice was lesser for the day. Udit Ji said that he is sure one of the best among the boys and need to keep the spirit on.

Rehaan: “Humko Diawana Kar Gaye” Till when this Tabla and Dhol is going to be with you? I said na, you seemed to be like some orchestra singer and I am not of another choice even this time. Even if your song was nice with Sur and voice, I am not that happy. Alisha made the point that he is never out of a particular pattern.

Jaaved Ji and Alisha were not in much favour of him.

Prashant: “Yaar Ko Maine” What a start… what a start… what a choice of song.. you rocked man… you just rocked. Although the credit goes to song itself, but matching up to level of this song could not be easy to anyone. It’s your best performance yet.

Jaaved Sir was quite happy, although Alisha said that the sur was a little flatter at some places. Jaaved Ji strongly protested that and asked her to tell where he was flat. Udit Ji made the point that at second third line, he was missing something and also he was missing something about the pitching at Antara. Jaaved Sir again said that he is with his earlier opinion even now and knows that public will be with Prashant.

Don’t worry Prashant, Last stands till last factor is with you. No need to worry after such a performance.

Indian Idol 3, 6th June 07: Final nodes for girls

Result rounds for boys this time …

Obvious choice was Rehaan, Abhishek and Suhit from boy’s side, although Parleen’s name was added in the same. Suhit was asked that why most of the boys chosen him to be out? Suhit answered that he knows that he was not fine, but there were others too out of track. Abhishek was brave enough to accept the fact that forgetting lyrics is an unforgettable crime for singer.

Here comes Anu Ji’s verdict now, I must say that lots of improvement in his views. Look like he looses his senses only with girls 😉 anyway …. His views are quite satisfactory. He praised and respected the views of Jaaved Ji and Alisha and also made a passing remark over Udit Ji.

As about contestants, his view was about Shantanu first and he said that there was no passion in voice and expressions were more on face rather than singing itself. Although he added that he is finding of Indian Idol 3. Next was Emon, who was praised and same with Chang. Anu Ji even questioned Jaaved Ji that why he was against Alisha, when they were giving opinion about Amit as they were right on there place. Next was Bhavin, who got standing ovation from Anu Ji’s side. Padmanav and Aneesh were not in good book of Anu today. Even he said that Parleen is trading on his looks for saving him rather than improving his voice. He made a naughty gesture saying that he should stop looking here and there.

Now, it was choices about Bottom three, then …

Anu Ji: Padmanav, Aneesh and Rehaan.

Udit Ji: Rehaan, Aneesh and Padmanav.

Alisha: Amit, Padmanav and Abhishek

Jaaved Ji: Suhit, Rehaan and Shantanu.

Now it was clearance to contestants, Emon and Amit were given clearance of being safe. Parleen was then for the safer side, but the unexpected decision was on Rehaan Khan, who was on safer side along with Bhavin. Aneesh was first to enter into bottom. Then Prashant, Abhishek and Chang were declared to be safe.

So, here comes the bottom four:

Suhit, Shantanu, Aneesh and Padmanav.

Jaaved Ji was of choice to save Shantanu and Alisha was to save Suhit. On which there was a good debate between Alisha and Jaaved Ji. Although Jaaved Ji said that at each day others were better than Suhit. Udit Ji came with support of Padmanav.

Then it was given verdict against Aneesh and then to Padmanav. Means final words for Shantanu and Suhit and Suhit made the way to get advanced for one more round. I like to salute Shantanu’s brave smile at the moment.     You have an attitude to make it for longer. My best wishes will be with you.

So, now the show started with girl ….. Girl’s contest was given a name Dhoom 3. Anyway, now to the individual performances….

Deepali: “Nisha” Girl!!! You are such a spark … you rocked and took my heart. Can’t say that I found you better than Shifa, but you were almost there. What a performance, what a confidence. You were right about yourself that you need consistent encouragement to be confident and then she gains momentum. I could say that there were a few slight mistakes in singing, but her performance was enough to overtake all the things.

All the judges were in favour of Deepali. Rare moment, when all the three judges might be agreed on the same view, as Jaaved Sir mentioned.

Chaaru: “O Mere Sona Re” She was nice like ever. She is nice with her cute face and fine smile, but some how she is not clicking to my heart. Can’t say any reason, but anyway, she was fine with her song.

Jaaved Sir said that she was missing the feel and naughtiness was missing and Alisha was of the same view. Even Alisha said that she is thankful that this time, she and Jaaved Sir are of same view. Udit Sir praised a lot to her and said that she must be in top 5, on which Jaaved Sir commented that there must be at least 9 contestants in top 5 this time according to Udit Ji.

In next, Minni asked Chaaru a personal question, the qualities, which she would like to see in the boy, she may wish to get married. Chaaru then gave the three qualities Understanding, Passionate and Ambitious. Jaaved said that if someone wishing to marry her then he already must be ambitious.

Harshida: “Rangeelo Maro Dholna” A song suiting to her bold looks. I really got surprised that how she could cope up with such a song. Pronunciation was sharp and high nodes were excellent. I was unable to find any mistake in her performance.

Alisha started with the right words “Too hot to handle”, much better than previous performances. Jaaved Sir praised her and said it never seemed that she is from England. Udit Ji pointed that the song was much suiting to her.

Then a funny note was here, when Minni requested to Jaaved Ji to give her a few lesions about Hindi and Urdu. Jaaved Sir, given a sentence, which even I am unable to write down after hearing the same clip more than thrice and then he also gave the same in Urdu, after which she tried last words and it was funny, when we got to see that while talking to her, Jaaved Sir was pulling legs of Udit Ji’s “Lekin”.

Shifa: “Jaaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge” What were you doing Shifa? Its not like my girl. Not a good choice of song. Your forte is expressiveness and is was not like that there was no chance of that much expressiveness with this song, but you were not able to experiment. It was a deep performance rather than being confident and sensuous.

Alisha pointed it as colorless. Jaaved Sir said feminine arrogance and flirtation was missing. Udit Sir was not in that favour too. Shifa was a bit in tears. But I know she is a brave girl.

I want to hear and watch you more and more, so be here with the show.

Ankita: “Golmaal” What a voice? You are the performer, you are the rocker. Alisha said that you keep on missing the nodes and went flat a bit sometimes. Udit Ji said you were loosing the sur at few moments. Jaaved Sir said that this girl enjoys her performances and sing for herself that’s a nice attitude. Udit Ji was a bit in tears and requested her to bring back the same mood again as he is roping for her.

Smita: “Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho” Her voice was nice. But probably I am more looking over X-factor, so knew that she won’t be able to make it up to the top. For exceeding over her looks, you need to be outstanding and just being normal or competitive is not going to work for you.

This time, none of three Judges were in much favour of her. So, the girl was back with tears.

Vertika: “” Somehow, I never got satisfied with her expressions and I should make a rather clear statement that this kind of shy ways is not going to make the crown for her. Her voice was nice, her nodes were fine, but somehow she was unable to initiate that magic, which must be with this song. Somehow I felt this song as colorless. What was missing, I was unable to judge and was waiting for Judges’ comments over the same.

Jaaved Ji said that this performance was careful rather than being fluent and the same opinion came from Alisha’s side. Udit Ji added that she was not enjoying the song and was not confident with it.

Pooja: “Ek Pyar Ka Na Nagma Hai” She was named as strongest competitor from more than one sides, so everyone was looking for her performance. She seemed to be desperate and confident about herself. I liked that attitude and somehow felt that somewhere some kind of fight going on inside her. Is it with contestant girls?

Jaaved Sir added that he will give 9/10 as her pronunciation was needed to be improved. Udit Ji was decided to give him a standing ovation, but somehow his less confidence and other’s influences made him to keep him under control.

Pooja!! Not only me, but everyone else was unable to get the reasons behind her un-usual expressions. She was visibly upset over something.

Richa: “Pal Pal” Two things from her introduction were making a bitter taste as she called Alisha as Alisha Chinai rather than calling her Alisha Ji and then she ended with saying that she has only competition with her. Richa you never impressed me and if you are here then you are just costing over other’s place. That’s only what I have to say about you. You seemed to be too much proud to me.

Although I said that baby singing matured a bit today, but she was not able to cope with Shreya Ghosal, the original singer. Alisha praised her, but Udit Ji was of another tune saying that she lost Sur at many places. Jaaved Sir said that she achieved the mood of song on the cost of sur and it must not happen. Her face was showing the same attitude as I have seen over the face of Pooja Chatterjee, are you people able to find some connection?

So, today shows ends here. Let’s wait for the results.

Indian Idol 3, 5th June 07: Now, its boys again …

Now, its 12 boys and 12 girls and the verdict day for girls ….. Expect the unexpected.

Udit Ji: Three names on cards, Vertika, Vanita and Ankita Mishra.

Alisha: Judges have raised standards, so the three names Vertika, Vanita and Priyanka.

Jaaved Ji: Priyanka, Shifa and Vertika.

So, the common choice was Vertika and unexpected names from unusual sides were Shifa from Jaaved Ji and Ankita from Udit Ji. Vertika was paying for coming out of her forte in a bit earlier. About Vanita, I was not in that favour even in my last article. The name of Priyanka was not unexpected and I was expecting her to be out like Vertika. But the other names means Shifa and Ankita were quite surprising to me. Why …??? Anyway, leave it….

Anu Ji’s presence from recorded message come to show that we are really missing his probably complete contrast views and there would be a lot of heat over the floor by his comments, when he will be back. His verdict was clear that song choices from Vertika and Aisha were worst, Harshida was out of sur at many places; Vanita, Charu, Deepali and Smita were in his good list. Bottom four from Anu Ji’s side were Shifa, Vertika, Harshida, Priyanka and adding one more name Ankita.

Although he didn’t come to make a strong comment over Richa, although hinted her that its being enough to pretend like little baby, get matured.

I should say, why everyone was not happy with Ankita’s performance, for me she was outstanding and show stealer … anyway, seems like I am looking from some other view.

Now, here comes the surprising and actual views from the contestants themselves and I must say that these clips might be deciding for next many episodes. Jealousy, arguments and personal mess-ups, that’s like girls. Thanks you all are not that pretending. But sure, this view was not to reflect the actual performances.

Ankita was on target from everyone and clashes between Richa and Pooja was quite observable. Ankita was in tears. I know in next days, we will see, joy on Richa’s face on Pooja’s exist or vice versa.

Interestingly, Richa and Pooja were called on the floor at very first and then it was the turn of Shifa and Harshida. Next were Smita and Deepali and then Charu and Vertika.

Pooja was clear for the next round and I really liked the attitude on her face over this victory, the war begins now. After it Harshida was declared to be in for the next rounds. Deepali and Charu were declared safe and in the same way, everyone called upon the floor was declared to be safe for the next rounds and it made the verdict out against four names to move into bottom four:

Vanita, Ankita, Aisha and Priyanka.

All the three Judges were of opinion that Aisha should be saved for next rounds and probably many of us too, but we miss the fact that these are the Theater rounds and show is not attracting too many votes and so even a little margin could drag the unexpected scenario, which exactly happened here, making Ankita saved for the next rounds.

Aisha said, if all the Judges and public wished that she should be in top 10, then its really enough for her. Brave girl, heads off to you … you were having the best voice quality among all the girls and sure the perfect attitude to make it to the finals, but…. … really now I am worried about the show itself.

Jaaved Ji and other Judges were not happy on this verdict, but …

Now, the show moved over the 12 boys …..

Alisha Ji was not on chair and when Minni asked why, then Jaaved Ji said, when we saw that three girls are out now, so we decided to make the one from our side too. Hussain was quick to say that then Minni too won’t be here. Minni assured that she is not going anywhere and was to proceed with the show further by calling Suhit, but then lights trembled and we were watching a new Alisha in dude’s look, like Suhit’s ways. I really liked your spirits Alisha. Thumbs Up for you.

Shantanu: “Neele Neele Ambar Pe” Always unusual expressions and it might be his style too, but he has a voice and I don’t agree when he says that he won’t be able to do much of performance. He might be a rocker at the end. He was getting rhythm, but somehow I felt a friction in the ways and Jaaved Sir remarks as the same, saying that somehow the feel is missing and it was not an effortless singing. Alisha was demanding a little more energy saying it was a little bit serious. Although Udit Ji said he rocked. He must be safe for next many rounds. He is a my kind of boy. I want him to be in.

One thing was interesting that he clearly said that Bhavin is going to cross many. An open praise and here me, not really knows that Bhavin is how much talented? Really bad for me.

Emon Chatterjee: “Piya Re” The confident kid with clever choices. I felt, he was not able to justice with the song, in the way Karunya has done earlier. The voice was not that pleasant as it was expected from his side. But anyway, all the judges were praising him, what else one may ask for. “Sonu Nigam look-a-like”, the impression from Judges moved in from Udit Ji’s words.

I am not happy with Emon Chatterjee’s performance.

Suhit Gosain: “Ai Jindagi Gale Laga le” Worst choice of song. Suhit, it’s not your type and even if you want to give it a try, then its not the right moment. Suhit!!! Its only Theater rounds and you are being completely non-strategic about the stay. Be careful, your image is not going to save you, when margins are crucial.

Abhishek: “Chala Jaata Hoon” I like this dude, but for me, it was a mediocre performance. I am not happy with him or it might be the case that we have heard this song many times, so we are expecting much more from the kid. He even forgot the lines once.

Jaaved Ji said that start was fine, but forgetting words was an unforgettable crime. Alisha gave stress on the same. Udit Ji also said that he need to be serious enough for the chance. Alisha made the punch line, saying that there won’t be retakes and will be only one take.

Prashant: “Ai Kash Ki Ab Hosh Me Hum” He was nice and everybody praised him. I think the innocent boy has the competition with Chang for a particular slot and beating Chang won’t be an easy game for him. Anyway, you are in for the next round from my side.

Best of luck, Prashant.

Chang: “Meri Saanso Mein Basa Hat Ek Naam” Sincere boy with surprisingly sweet voice and ways. If you ask me right now for the best one among the boys then its Chang no doubt on the basis of songs. He has something in his voice, which relaxes you and its something that is gifted. Udit Ji said he sang better than even himself. What else you could ask for more?

You will stay till Galas. Best of Luck, Chang.

Amit Paul: “Bheegi Bheegi Se” Ambitious song. Choosing such a song makes you left with much much high expectations and even meeting them, don’t make you on the top. So, a bit risky. But its really commendable that he made it till the end. Alisha was not happy with the nodes and Udit Ji said the same that he lost the nodes.

I am not happy with Udit Ji as a Judge, he seemed to be just following other words. Jaaved Ji strictly added that Amit was fine and insisted that he knows what Nodes and rhythm means.

Bhavin: “Tu Hi Meri Sab Hai” Now, the boy moves in. I was really waiting to hear you. Who is this Bhavin? Impressive!!! Really really impressive, what a control over voice, what a performance, what an energy level… You are a rocker and have enough to make it to top five. Alisha said that it was the best performance from Bhavin and I agree with the same.

Bhavin!!! I am with you from now on.

Padmanav: “Mere Rang Mein Rangane Wali” The jolly and funny boy. Sur was nice, voice was nice, feel was balanced and overall the song was in very relaxed mood. Jaaved Ji said that pronunciation needs to be improved. Alisha said that he needs to be flawless now. Udit Ji felt that he lost Sur at few places. For me, he is not the jam for the loner race, but he could try to be.

From my side, best of luck for this round.

Anish Jain: “Ab Mujhe Raat Din” There was something different, different from the original version. Intensity was missing, he was needed to be more involved with the song. All of the Judges were not happy with the Sur. But Jaaved Ji said that he has an exceptional voice and could do much better with it.

Rehaan Khan: “Kyunki Itna Pyar Tumko” Not impressive, somehow he always seemed to be like some orchestra singer and nothing more. The choice of songs too, moving according to the same. This was not going to make the ways to Indian Idol, but he managed to reach up to this point. Jaaved Sir was of the view that he was very very weak and at the same time, Alisha said that he was better than other days. Udit Ji come to agree with Jaaved Ji’s view. Sometime Jaaved Ji dominating the views because of him seniority.

Anyway, Rehaan, you are the weakest link and not going to make it for longer.

Parleen: “Kiya Hua Jo Laari Chhuti” Impressive personality and somehow carrying the look of Anuj from Indian Idol. Pronunciation was not up to the mark for me. Start was disastrous and I was just shocked that how could he do something like that. Low nodes were completely flat for me. Judges were polite over him, I thought he was needed to be more criticized.

Calculations are in your favour, but its not the way to be in.

Indian Idol 3, 4th June: Its girls again ….

Here comes the day of verdict out for boys. Starting straight from the start, Jaaved Sir’s choice for vote out were Roshan and Sohit, almost obvious choices from Jaaved Sir, then from Alisha’s side, there was only one name Roshan; probably Alisha skipped to speak up against Sohit like me and then it was Udit Ji with Aneesh and Rehaan Khan.

So, these were the choices and the common choice was Roshan at least. Now, it was about girl’s choices like boys did at their times and almost un-ambiguous choice were Roshaan and Rehaan.

Again it was a rapid declaration of safe and un safe list, which finally ended with four names; Roshan and Rehaan (as expected)… Roshan was given a quick verdict saying that he is out and then Rehaan was given the verdict that he is safe (although it was not acceptable for boys) and then it was between Bharat and Parleen and Parleen got the way to advance a step more and Bharat is out.

Then the show moved forward to performances of girls and now here comes my comments:

Pooja Chatterjee: “Ishq Samandar” Favourite contestant of my best friend. Personally likable for many girls specially as she is fine in studies too and seemed to be bold and sensitive over issues. But Indian Idol is for singing and performing ability only, so … performance was fine, sur were fine, but somewhere voice quality was a bit missing. So, I was not that happy and could say that this time Alisha was right about her opinion. Although Udit Ji said, she might be in 1-10 (which also raised eye brow of Shifa), but I don’t think that people will agree on it at least as far as this performance is concerned.

Harshida: “Jawani Jaaneman” Really a good choice for herself in deed as Udit Ji said. One of the few songs, which could suit her bold personality. In fact, even her auctions were fine, except just a minor place, which was nice as she doesn’t belong to India. Jaaved Ji said, Indians always in praise make a comment that it’s imported and she is imported. Alisha said, it was better than the last time. Udit Ji was quit happy with song and I was surprised that why he didn’t said that she is coming in top 10. 😉

Aisha Sayed: “Aao Na” She was being presented as a girl always experimenting with her voice according to the songs and occasions. Over all, she was nice, but I felt her a bit off key at higher nodes. Alisha said she is always nice and this time was no exception, but this time Sur was missing at a few places and the same comment was from Udit Ji’s side too, but Udit Ji added one more thing that she might come in 1-10 list (so, she is the second one in the list now 😉 Jaaved Ji pointed the same thing, which I noticed means the high nodes. He said that her voice was getting in-disciplined at high nodes.

Vertika: “Yeah Mera Dil Pyar Ka Diwana” A song completely opposite to her personality, but she was brave enough to try. But probably, for the judges and show, it was not an excuse and Jaaved Ji in clear words said that this was not her type of song and she was much off key than ever. Alisha said that she is very shy and simple.. Probably which made her uncomfortable with the same song. Udit Ji reminded his memories when he heard Asha Ji singing the same song with Kalyan Ji in 1978. He said that she must be comfortable and enjoying with the song rather than only singing it.

Charu Semwal: “Bidi Jalaile” Good girl image, whether her looks or disciplined manners in fight with Sohit in initial shows, she is a complete package and she is very conscious about it, means caring about her looks with the singing. The girl knows that what makes the votes turning in her favour and she is using her X-Factor. Although everyone praised her, but should say that she was not always perfect with the song and I should put my point against Jaaved Ji, who said that she was better than all the other girls, who sang the same song in many other shows. I am of clear choice that she might be good but was far behind Pawani from Sa Re Ga Ma Kids. She will keep on moving in the show.

Richa Aneja: “Kabhi Neem Neem Kabhi Shahad Shahad” Many people are not happy with the girl from earlier rounds. She kept on doing mistakes; she has enough attitudes to shatter others like she did in earlier rounds, by being very very rude to Prashant, who was with her in duet. Most the girls don’t pay favour to her, I think. So, at one side, there are enough reasons to throw her out, but another side, makes her right candidate for such reality shows. She looks like innocent, but anyone could observe that she is using her innocent looks for hiding her cunningness at few places. Jaaved Sir was not happy with her voice and said that it was not pleasant.

I wont comment over Richa Aneja right now. For me as a person and a singer, she doesn’t stand here. Even if she has good voice quality, she is not able to do justice with that.

Ankita: “Ajnabi” What a look, what a performance, just mind blowing.. she really surprised me. She was the absolute show stealer today. Perfect, very perfect … what else I could say. Transformation after the last boyish looks, very impressive. But I fear that she has given her trump card out before time, but she might be right too as in such shows, we could never guess that when the right time is. Anyway, I will say all the best to Ankita.

Vanita: “Chandani Ratein” Fine performance, both Sur wise and voice quality wise. Judges were objecting about her low nodes, but was praising her. Although Jaaved Ji was saying that she was not having the right Khhanak in voice. Although Minni Mathur gave the excuse of less time to practice, but Jaaved Ji countered saying that its same for each one of them. Anyway, for me, she doesn’t have that star material for Indian Idol.

Deepali: “Abke Sajan Sawan Mein” For me, she is impressive. Right nodes, sweet voices and right attitude. She was nice as like ever. Although this time, it was another tune, but she made it. Everyone praised her performance and Minni introduced the fact that she is topper of her class this year. Impressive for everyone na….. I am counting over you Deepali … don’t disappoint me.

Smita Adhikari: “Jubi Jubi Jubi” Last time, she was in bottom four and it made me clear that she wont make it for longer. But anyway, she is trying hard … and she really rocked this time. Could she make it for next round with this performance? According to me, she must be in, but let’s see, looks are important or voice. Jaaved Ji did the right thing for the moment by giving her a standing ovation. It was almost necessary for making her survived.

Richa seemed to be not happy with her praises.

Priyanka Mukharji: “Hotho Pe Aisi Baat” Start was a bit off key, but in the last phase, she regained the passion. She shown that she has the potential, but was not able to use it this time. Over all, she was not in profit from Judges as except Udit Ji, others were not in favour.

Shifa Ansari: “San Sanan San” My personal favourite… I really started fearing for her as its never easy to match up the expectations. It was too early to give her best and now she has competition with only herself. Song was nice, voice was nice, performance was nice, everything was nice and it was unexpected to hear anything wrong from Judges’s side. Udit Ji started with the comment that she lost Sur and others joined the same. Jaaved Ji also added that somewhere involvement was lesser at a few places.

I hope that this sweet girl will come out to be my favourite for the show this time.

Indian Idol 3, 2nd June 2007: The Journey begins now: Now Boys

The next day, when there were two red cards to be shown to our favourite fourteen. Although Minni started with the comment that viewers got to see the nail biting show, but as you and me were already knew that it was not like that. Anyway….

For contestants, it was the first step and for viewers, it was a glimpse to know that where the show will head in next rounds. Many of us were only wishful to confirm the presence of their favourite contestants and few of them were just watching for cute faces. But for sure, this time as I earlier said Piano Round because of introduction of full orchestra became much much more important and glamorous than ever, moreover it promises the contestants much more exposure than ever and sure will drag many more aspirants for the next time.

Oh!!! Sorry Sorry … I need to be back to the basics…

The show started with the girls praying for Anu Malik’s health and Jaaved Ji’s comments that he thinks that he should fell ill at least once. Besides the other things, sometimes, it seems to be a plot somewhere more than the actual illness. From last trio, two have left the show and the only third one left is ill in piano rounds. Yeah me always me, looking for conspiracy theories.

Udit Ji said, he found Rashmi and Richa not up to the mark, Alisha said it was Rashmi and Priyanka and finally Jaaved Ji was in with his verdict against Pinky and Rashmi, with the comments that they all are well, that’s why they feel a little disappointment after hearing them in good tune earlier.

Then the show moved to secret voting from boys, where the verdict was against Pinky and Priyanka. Although Priyanka protested a little saying that she doesn’t think that her performance over “Tinka Tinka” was such a bad one, which might initiate this much criticism.

Don’t know why, probably because of being only Theater rounds … it was much quick this time and unnecessary drama before showing the red cards was avoided and the verdict came against Rashmi and Pinky. As about Rashmi, all the judges were a side against her and I have written that there might be a chance for her, but ….. it looks like I need to be more careful in making final comments. I am also feeling sorry for Pinky as earlier I said that she is a material for top four at least, but probably her makeover was not able to match up the levels like Antara last time to impress public.

So, finally its remaining twelve and Pinky and Priyanka missed the boat.

Now, moving over boys side,

Shantanu: “Aai chand teri chandni ki kasam” The boy with interesting and funny facial expressions. The voice was really nice and definitely suiting to the song itself, otherwise even a little bit of injustice of this song was a big crime. As about this guy, then I always get amazed by his expressions. Its good or bad, I can’t say, but while having a serious voice and tune, his face is having somehow strange funny expressions. I am really unable to say at this point that it would help him or not, but I think he is not utilizing his expressiveness. Could do better with that, he has the potential, but never lived up to that.

Padmana Bardoloi: “O Mitva” A pleasant and smiling face from the show and sure will be missed by other participants, if someday missed the boats. Baby boy is favourite of girls at least. Voice was nice and Sur was nice. But (like Udit Ji’s Lekin) somewhere feel was missing and he was not getting those throws at many a places. It was great that Udit Ji was there to point out the exact feelings. But should say, I am missing the thrill in the show after these two performances as girl’s start was really rocking.

Emon Chatterjee: “O Manjhi Re” It was a very careful song from a singer point of view. A nice and expressive song, but I have seen many singers getting over-excited over the same and making mistakes. If the same song is always a best choice for any stage, then it requires a balanced approach with no experiment with original tunes and Emon did the same. You get the marks. Udit Ji’s words, which went un-noticed were actually true as in the last lines of song, the ascent of “Hain” actually sounded like “he”, probably because of his natural ascent, but that shouldn’t count much. Although he is favourite of my best friend and she wont be happy, if I comment anything otherwise, so keeping the whole care, I just wanted to suggest him that we need some expressiveness and rock, otherwise you will get praises, but not votes in later stages. Think about it.

Bhavin: “Dam Dar Dam” I don’t know why his contenders are counting on him? The way he started the song and continued later, it was totally disappointing. I mean, I was thinking that how he could smile over that and later I got surprised that why all the judges praised him. I was really confused and so switched back to the performance and watched the same again and this time, noticed that he was indeed off key in start and gain the moment after the middle, but the start was such depressive that I was not able to check the tunes later on. I am not happy with him at all.

Prashant: “Ya Ali” This Indian Idol has shown us that not only Indian origin could perform well over Hindi songs, but the others could do well too. I have been happy with this boy all the time, but this time, if truly speaking then I was feeling that he was missing the exact feel from the words “Ya Ali” specially. But I hope that I was wrong otherwise the Judges might have noticed the same. I will agree with Jaaved sir that his pronunciation is much excellent and in fact, surprising by looking at him and his origin. His success will change the mindset of “Salaam Saab” sounding voice. Prashant!!! I will be with you.

Rehaan Khan: “Ehsaan Tera Hoga Mujh Par” Why this song Rehaan? I should say you have taken a risk or shown a bit lesser confidence. Dear!! One thing, you have to understand, being a good singer only don’t make you close to the title, but you have to experiment and show the versatility otherwise… Rehaan!!! I am not really convinced, why and for what reasons? I can’t explain but I am not, that’s sure.

Amit: “Khamosh Raat, Sahmi Hawa” Is the original song really like this? I have to hear it again. Please forgive me, if I am wrong. Judges praised you, nothing to comment on Sur or voice as both were ok, but for me … somehow the song was not engaging and people like me, might be just waiting to get passed through it.

Bharat: “Phirta Rahoon” Bharat!!! Bharat!! Please learn to maintain the start. I do not why, but in this episode, I am going off key with Judges’ choices again and again. But should say that he is fine and passionate about high nodes and Aalaap, but lower nodes were saying that during rehearsal, his overall concentration was over high nodes only. Take care next time, improve your expressions.

Sohit Gosain: “Tera Jaadu Chal Gaya” The Heavy Metal Rocker is the favourite of many people like me for his looks and style. But (Udit Ji’s style again) he is not going to make the title for sure. He has serious limitations with Sur and training. Hoping that, he will keep on improving. I won’t like if he take the final title except, he refines himself exceptionally, but I wont mind his moving up to top 7 or top 6.

Anish: “Sochenge Tumhe Pyar Karein Ki Nahi” While hearing him, I was thinking that my best friend was right, when she was saying that she was not at all impressed by over all performance of boys. Jaaved Sir’s view was otherwise, but I will prefer to make tunes with my best friend than Jaaved Ji this time. Fine, ok … but I am not impressed.

Abhishek Kumar: “Satrangi Re” What’s wrong with me? Why the starts are not engaging me everytime? This time, I got the song from the second line, when he sang “Dil Ka Saaya” … after that everything was fine except the last few nodes, where there were chances of improvement. But I don’t want to take another track, he was much better than others. Now, I am waiting for Shang’s performance to summarize that who was the best.

Parleen Singh Gill: “Dil Ne Tumko Chun Liya Hai” That’s …. Finally I am satisfied with someone’s start, finally. Thanks Parleen!!! You need to move more deeper into emotions at few places, but you were already excellent today and but asking for more will be a bit harder to you. Credits goes to the song itself, but this performance was one of the best for sure. Thanks Parleen, again thanks.

Roshan: “Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein” Don’t know what to say, but I have a few memories attached with the song itself, so not many of singers could cope up well up to my expectations with this song. So, I better not to judge the same song. Although Judges were of the view that he was not fine with Mukhda, although excellent otherwise.

Chang: “Halka Halka Sa” What he is doing? Ohh God!! What is this? Chang, these were my first comments. Saying straight, I was not happy. But I try to hear him twice with close eyes. I feel that I am already over impressed with the original voices of song and so unable to hear any other voice with the same song. Although I know, everyone can’t do great every time, but for me one gets standing ovations, only if he goes beyond the original and might be sounding better than that. Something Pawani did in Sa Re Ga Ma earlier with “Bidi Jalai Le”. Anyway, you were fine Chang.

So, the show ends here. Not happy as no performance was at the levels of Shifa Ansari, Aisha or Charu. Girls having edge till this round. There are much leg pulling going on from Jaaved Ji side for Udit Narayan. I think Jaaved Ji enjoying his experienced and decent image that no one could dare to do the same over him. Anyway, it was nice, but …

Indian Idol 3: Grand start from the Piano Round

HI friends!!! I am back again with Indian Idol 3 this time.

If you have been with last series and all the blogs related to that, then you will feel that it is a big welcome move that Indian Idol is allowed overseas viewers a chance to get involved in votes. Although it was also obvious from business point of view and also intolerable if overseas contestants are in.

Definitely, this time, I have changed my way of writing and trying to get the overall view, rather being with an aim like last time, when it was a determined war rather than reviews. Hoping that you all will consider my reviews a worth to read, even if they come late than last time (as I am not getting much time and recordings of the shows in those ways).

Now, starting with the show, Minni was better than the last time and I really could say that one could be better than perfect, good competition from her side for the charming girls 😉 The Judges are all fine and according to my choice. If you look over my earlier articles for the last series, then in those days, I said once that it was much more better if Javed Ji was there. So, its like wish granted to me J

Another welcome step was making Piano round moving into the main stream. Its going to have much more fun than last time. Anyway, now rather than boring you all, I am directly coming over the individual contestants.

Aisha Saiyad: What a start, what a start … she was just mind blowing. Really no one else from the fourteen was able to give this much expressive start. Don’t want to comment that where she was perfect and where she lost tune, but I must make tune with all the judges to say that she was mind blowing.

Her X-Factor came from her expressions and her expressions make ways, when she feels confident about her. So, there is a place, where she might be exploited in later stage, when she might get songs not suiting to her forte or songs not suiting to her mood. Asking me about the prediction??? Could anyone stop her from being advanced from the next stage? Ayesha Saiyad is top most choice to be in for next stage. The complete package from girls side and others already started fearing from her. Only competition with Charu.

Sorry Ayesha, The “first sustain lesser than the last” factor might cease your votes this time, but I loved your confidence and expressions

Rashmi: “Pyar Ki Yeh Kahani Suno” Probably the wrong choice of song, she has more potential than she actually delivered. Definitely, I am not agreed with all of the Judges, but I want to go with Alisha. Her comment was balanced and saying the exact thing. She delivered everything in fine ways, but somewhere that energy was missing, which was in the original one.

Although I can’t predict that Judges’s critics could drag more votes for her, but I am feeling sorry about her. According to me, Rashmi has 45/55 chances to be in.

Shifa Ansari:
“Kahe Chede”. The girl with the cutest smile and probably most happening face from all the girls. Her age (only 16) could drag more users to vote for her, but at the same time lack of experience was visible in her ways. I am not at all convinced with the ways; she started the song “Kahe Chede”. Definitely, she needs to learn how to touch the soul of the songs. At a few places, there were immaturity in taking the right soul, but technically, I should say that she was mechanically perfect, but the start was not with full heart for sure, where it was having enough potential to be most prominent part.

Don’t think that she is not in my good list. Being a boy ;), she is my personal hot favourite at least face and expression wise. Her engaging eyes will keep the charm in the show and I will loose interest a bit like I lost after Monali Thakur in last Indian Idol Series. But this time, Shifa is so so cute and lovable. She has tremendous X-Factor to gain votes, if advances to next stages. Hoping that she would be cracked down under extreme challenges, I am wishing her good luck and suggesting her to get more better as I don’t want to loose the charm bring in by her in the show. Shifa Ansari must be in from this round.

Smita Adhikari: “Kya Janu Sajan”At stages, where X-factor might be serious issue, she sure lacks substance, but when one moves with her nodes and voice, then she is sure much better than most of them. As about prediction, then I can’t say anything about her right now, but I, myself waiting for the results as the same will decide that what shape Indian Idol is going to take as talent wise, I would be a huge mistake, if she doesn’t move in.

Vanita: “Ishq Kabhi Kariyo Na”I am not convinced at all with her skills or what Judges said about her. Somehow, her show seemed to complete out of tune to me. Can’t exactly say that where was the problem, but I was not convinced with her voice or Sur. She seemed to be nervous a lot about herself at this stage. Her nodes were going flatter and she was like completing formality. Although I am sure that it was no where near than her best.

Nothing more to comment on, according to me, she is not in for the next round and if this doesn’t happen, then it might be injustice to others. In fact, I am not at all happy with Judges’s comments and feeling really bad about Rashmi at least.

Deepali: “Tere Bin Nahi Jina” Need to learn a lot. Sure has an excellent voice, but don’t you think that she need to be trained a bit more? I felt that somehow Javed Sir changed her comments after hearing Alisha’s comments, but sure conveyed his view. I am feeling Udit Narayan a bit immature for such shows. His comment was not justified at all. If this was her best, then she doesn’t stand for a place in Indian Idol. Let the people decide her fate, but I wont be annoyed, if she moves in, as she sure stands for a place in idols and no one could judge someone in one performance.

Pinky Maidasani: “Mahi Ve” Excellent voice, fine dedication and determination. I like to go with Alisha’s ways and really not happy when Javed Sir made even a slight comment against her. Even if she might not be chart busters from the looks, but she must be in and should sustain till to six at least.

Vertika: “Jage Re Man Chala” She is sure fine with her ways and I wish be with Javed Sir’s comments. She must be in for the next stages.

My personal opinion says some more factors must join her to make her ways to the final rounds, but for this round, Vertika sure must advance for the next stage.

Harshida: “Chale Jaise Hawayein” … I should not say that she is completely out of tune but probably her pronunciation is needed to be improved and she needs to feel the words. I can’t comment over the strategies like surprises like the one created this time by making her grandparents in at the right moments but calculations says, she should cross this stage at least, if not with the song, then with the X-Factor she possesses.

Priyanka: “Tinka Tinka Jara Jara” Definitely, the song was sure beautiful and if she was not able to do justice with that, then she was not meant to be in at even this stage. But good songs probably make the critics more prompt and often as happened in her case. But she sure has enough material for being advanced in the next stage.

Charu:
“Dil Ko Hazar Baar” Nice and cute face along with the soothing voice, her ways and expressions make her a complete killing package. I became fan of her from this performance. Let me hear the boys, then I will say that on whom I am betting for the title.

The one best looks, She is going to be a heart-throb for the show. Only she matched with performance of Aisha. She is trying to place the expressions, but somehow either eyes are not giving her strength or face is taking all the attention. She is reminding me a name from first Fame Gurukul … right now, I am not really getting the name… but anyway …. I will leave watching the show, if someone tells me that Aisha and Charu are not in next round.

Richa: “Sajan Ghar Aana Thaa” The little sweetie pie, getting attention from all the last rounds, but I should say that her weakest link is her nervousness and lack of confidence. She sure has a blessed voice, but the X-Factor moves in with the expressions. She only lacks from the nerves, otherwise she is an upcoming star, if the later stages grooms her confidence more and more.

She must be in and if this doesn’t happen, then it will be injustice with the raw talent.

Puja Chatterjee: “Tujhase Naraj Nahin” A change is always better, but not at a moment, where the slight mistakes may cost you much more. A metal shown by her as chosen to perform out of her forte even in the initial stage and backing her up, I will pray for her.

Don’t want to comment on that she is coming in next round or not, but I wish that she must be in for the next rounds, so we could see the other flavors from her side.

Ankita: “Aayi Re Aayi Re Khusi” Nice comments, nice environment, nice confidence … getting Udit Narayan for dancing, what else you could ask for. The set is all yours, but she should work over her voice, which seemed to cracking at high nodes.

Don’t worry Ankita, you are coming in next round according to me, especially when then “last sustain most” factor is with you.
