Didn’t it took me longer to write review over some movie again. Look like now days, I am writing too many things but this part of me been away for a while.

The above is not exactly true as in all of my last reviews, I mentioned that I come to write over something only if it touches me in that way and so this explains why not so many reviews over movies from my side even if I kept a separate category for it. Anyway … let me start with the special one.

Starting with lines that I am happy for Hindi Cinema coz they started making movies differently, been so common about my reviews. The reason is simple, they really started doing this otherwise, we would not have been to get Kartik Calling Kartik kind of movie surfaced on the screen. Its one of those movie, which plays in your mind and makes you think rather than staying on the screen only and sure had the reasons to make it into my movie reviews collection.

Kartik, an ordinary boy next door, bullied by his house owner, being abused by his boss, topic of fun between officemates and a shy lover, who will never tell her … he buys a landline phone having no idea that it will change his life forever. Kartik calls Kartik … no .. its not some other Kartik, but he hear himself, no … not his conscience, but his actual voice on phone. He tried to investigate from exchange as well, but they say no calls made to him … Can you believe it?

How’s that possible? Is someone playing with him? Is he insane? If so, then how others heard the same call in front of himself sitting quiet? Is there any ghost? Supernatural? What is it?

The puzzle goes long, the Kartik on the other side, changes the life of Kartik dramatically. The loser guy becomes successful and even gets his girl. He was top of the world, keeping a little secret inside himself. Kartik calls Kartik …. What if he reveal the secret?? He does it and whole little world of him flips down. Kartik on the other side, takes it to kill him, to destroy him. He run.. run to somewhere no one can find him, much far from the place he always lived in, some address even he don’t know. Can he run from him??? Find out by watching the movie itself… believe me this worth it.

Keep suspense a side, the story tells us the ancient truth that somewhere answers to all of our questions lie within us. No one else could show us a better path than our self coz no one knows you more. The same things changes in yours favour when you start looking over them differently. Watch the movie and think once in this way.

It would never been the case that I might be writing over some particular shop or misbehave of employees there coz I understand the way things work. Acts of individuals should not be linked with the reputation of shop/ enterprise itself, but still thought to make a point over online bookings or book shops might be working.

I been fond of reading books but sure not like those big ones, who can be found living with lots of books at books home. On the contrary, you wont find any books at my place as whatever I buy, get borrowed or gifted away soon as I repeat read books only over years. But, I am sure one of those many crying out there for the fact that we don’t find enough buyers or readers for books and only those books make through reach public, which might have been pushed a little bit by media or some award that might have got. But let me share a few experiences here to tell you all why books stay far from reach …

My experience is very ordinary and could easily be defended by the Book Shop itself saying that its not possible to please everyone, but still what a helpless buyer could be doing than just making a point …

The matter was just simple.. my sis called me for some IGNOU books from Mumbai. Unfortunately, even delivery_man_CoolClips_vc012362 though important, sometimes, its hard to find these books on common bookshops. Searching leads to you a name Neeraj Books, New Delhi and that’s the reason I got call as I live in Laxmi Nagar, New Delhi now days. This isn’t been the first occasion, I got a similar request in late 2009, somewhere in November. Will also mention that but bad part first ..

Having a pretty busy schedule and life, sometimes, it doesn’t allow me to drive all over to the shop myself, which is just 9 kms from here I guess (though on opposite route, where I don’t go most of the time). I preferred to order over phone and web both the times. Last time, I dropped a mail to info@neerajbooks.com and also placed an order through their site, but no one came up. I called up them and after dozens of time, when someone picked up then I was to know that it would take at least 15 days to get those books delivered to me. Great!!!!

Interesting to hear. I have got my Laptop delivered to me from UK all the way within seven days, I got Nokia Trial devices from WomWorld, London within three days twice and here where I don’t even get confirmation or some kind of tracking about order status, I am supposed to wait for 15 days just for knowing that if books are available, will be sent or whatever… ?? Make sense??

I was annoyed even that time too… but somehow my phone was picked by some decent man, who was able to reach out to Laxmi Nagar itself. First I discussed with him about the option that if I could send the book directly to Mumbai if its gonna take the same time, but it was he, who came out with the option that as he know the area, he could himself deliver the books to me. I was sure happy with that and I got the books in two days only as it was man-to-man delivery otherwise I was struggling through channels.

Its true that you can’t be lucky all the times to meet the right man and it has to do more with the system itself. Whenever, you are making some site and placing some kind of order system, you need to be prompt about mailing things and also need to make sure that each request get attended and replied in real time otherwise, no point of having such a website, you are wasting time of customer.

Yes!! Your guess is right, I was not lucky this time. I talked to them over phone and asked if I could buy some begging books and they said Ok.. I mentioned that I could order from site, they said that would be better and books could be delivered easily as you are talking about a nearby and familiar place Laxmi Nagar. I placed the order and later when I tried to confirm the same (as I got no acknowledgement of my mail or even of order that I submitted through order form on their site), then someone on their side replied that it will take at least 15 days. I said at least I could be acknowledged and why should it take this much time, when its a local delivery only?

I got the arrogant reply back that I should buy the books from any shop in Laxmi nagar itself. I was just shocked on the words spoken. Thanks.. it seems that you are really doing kind of some social service for free that gives you right to say that to a customer. No wonder that books are still far from reach even in the era of online purchases.

Unfortunately, I have no other option left than taking an off from my office, drive to Neeraj Books and buy the books all by myself rather than relying on this online purchase way. Hope will do that today or tomorrow …

I also had similar experiences, when tried to buy books for myself earlier from Rajkamal Prakashan, but those people weren’t arrogant like this even when they had monopoly in same way. That time I was buying Chandrakanta Santati (6 Parts). I order through online and I got followed over phone and even intimated that books are not available right now, but will be back to tell you once new prints will be available. Though before new prints might have came, I found it from other shop two parts in some other print and rest four in other. So the story ended, but still I get newsletters from Raj Kamal Prakashan.

I think that’s the way someone communicate with customers not the way, Neeraj Books take thinking that people have to come to them in anyway. Someone should team them a lesson for sure …

Update 1: while writing the blog post, I wrote to them on April 09, 2010 …

Writing though I don’t think that anyone read this. Will post at right place for sure.

Thanks for the arrogant conversation I had with someone from yours side on number 91-11-23260329, that "I should buy the book from somewhere else if in hurry", when I was just enquiring about status of my order, which I didn’t got confirmed.

I am really not sure about the process you have in your place or the esclation matrix, you might be following for the complaints. definitely one could buy the books from somewhere else and having the books with you don’t make you priviledged to treat the orders in this way.

Got the below given tailor made reply from their side finally by today April 10, 2010, after my furious mail mentioned above …

I have replied that I will buy the books from some local shop in that case. Still I am helpless coz know that it wouldn’t be that easy to find the books from somewhere else and I have to drive to the bookshop finally. 😦

Update 2: Someone from Neeraj Books contacted me today morning 8:40 AM, April 13, 2010. Informed that out of 7, 4 books are available with them and as the delivery address is local, they could manage to deliver the books personally. That was what I expected at the first place. Not sure that I was talking to the same person, I talked in last instance or in the instance months back.

Still issue is with timings, as most of the times, I remain in office. Though I asked him for Sunday, but will contact him again, if he could deliver the same books at a shop nearby my place, whom I will pay the money in advance.

Hope I will get a happy ending. Will update…

Anyone noticed improved IPL telecast on YouTube?

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

Add to Google Buzz

Just noticed something while watching Delhi Dardevils Vs Kolkata Knight Riders on YouTube/IPL. YouTube seems to have made some serious changes for live telecast since April 07, 2010 or two three days before. The video quality has really improved a lot in resolutions and the improvement is no way lesser that one wont notice. Not sure about the technical details as unable to find any mention on their own site. But its really a welcome step.

Don’t know its due to the fact that I am getting past of teenage or the fact that losing game to Bangladesh in last World Cup made many of Indians not that much interested in Cricket anymore, but it’s is true that these are sure not those days, when I am very much involved in each bit of cricket as I was earlier used to be. Could say lack of cable at home now days might be added in to the same. With Live Telecast of IPL in this season, Youtube/Google really have connected many like me back to Cricket again.

Even then I can’t assure that I always surf YouTube/IPL page in time with start of the match everyday, but when yesterday I did the same then a pleasant surprise was waiting for me there. The quality was exactly something like might have been that of any TV Telecast. I was really up to asking that when does this happened. Even YouTube controls were different than usual (Will add screenshot of controls later) Check out ..

I am on 22” TFT+MTNL 3G+ NVidia 8600, but don’t think these things do anything much special about YouTube broadcast, but really owe you Google. 🙂

Whats wrong with Social Services of Google?

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

Add to Google Buzz

It disappoints you when you get to see nice innovations not catching up that faster than they should have. I was under huge disappointment, when come to see Google wave not taking off the hood that well and even when its for sure that Google Buzz is here to stay, it annoy you a little that why its not catching up that faster.

What wrong with technically the best services of Google in social department?

A question that’s been repeatedly asked and attempted to be answered so many times in so many ways still work-in-progress remained confusing. A company, who seems to have best moral grounds and respect among users all around the globe, a way of thinking that always seems to be working for betterment of technology and pushing the standards up, a technical leadership, which always believed in simplicity yet the best practices and at the end, owner of something called close to God Google’s Search, which tends to knowing people’s habits more than anything else in the world. Still the company not rising that big on social fronts? Why?

Just trying to think.. recollecting facts … not suggesting … not answering

  1. Blogger has much support and options than WordPress, still WordPress rules big time.
  2. Orkut been more simpler, cleaner and centered around people more than the business/ advertising, but still it not catching up big time against Facebook or MySpace.
  3. Social Connect and FriendFeed been around with nice features, but no one seems to know much about them not even names.
  4. Google Wave was a path breaking and real huge thing happened to this century, but still …
  5. Google Buzz was way better than Twitter or Facebook status updates, if we count on specifications sheet, but still it seems to loosing battle against Twitter.

Then why so many ‘failures’ whenever Google attempts some social thing?

  • Is the answer lies in their most successful service Google Search itself?
  • What if its Google’s obsession with cloud computing and unification of services, which holds them back from thinking outside the box?
  • Is the reason, is compatibility issues that take time with their 64 acquisitions till now?

All of the above may seem to be random and somehow irrelevant with the current discussion na… let me explain each.

google_god Why I am pointing over the most sane thing ever happened?

Issue is that their programmers and other people involved are kind of devotee for Google like anyone on this planet and sometimes it hinders with ability to think outside or against the main philosophy that may be laid by top management that “Let the consumer use the thing in simplest way, all complications we will handle free of  cost” Philosophy is great, Simplicity is great, but the problem is – Everything is not a Google Search.

You may not decide what would be the best for users. You have hands on almost each service in the world,  but you cant keep on suggesting people to use them at the first place before you mature each of them to stand on their own. I know many would say that Google does allow other services more than any other company in the world, but still I am making my point here ..

One example is WordPress Vs Blogger; Acquisition from Pyra Labs, Blogger seems to be most flexible blogging platform on the planet for people, who are happy with writing and don’t even want to own a domain. you can make use of all kind of scripts, insert any kind of custom code, add other Google services and even write and use your own theme yourself. Then why wordpress still known as the best platform for blogging?

Blogger-Wordpress-Conversion Sometimes initiatives and one product centered approach wins over projects with bigger potential and bigger resources. WordPress has established the whole system with involvement of other companies as well, while Google thinks that we have options in our own domain itself then why go outside? What’s point of not providing support to import whole blog to port on WordPress or others? What’s point in letting users resister their domain names with Google only? What’s point in keeping just a few very basic themes on showcase thinking that users will do everything? Why no inbuilt tool for stats? Why can’t one webmaster change the content of comments to strip out abusive content?

Once you start using Blogger, you really find that its best thing to go with, but not in first glance itself. Sometimes, I feels that flexibility should be matched well by offering excellent example/ templates and it should not only be on users and third party developers to evolve over the platform, but one should keep himself running in the race. There are some excellent themes and options with Blogger, but none of them are on showcase, like Google don’t wanna save itself from responsibility after putting other’s work on showcase. This doesn’t suit a beginner.

twitter-orkut-facebook

Same with Facebook Vs Orkut; Google’s initial hesitations from advertising inside Orkut due to inputs from overly cluttered interface of Facebook and MySpace cost its being first choice for third party developer doing their work for money. That kept the concept of Social Networking sane, when Zyanga with its games like Farmvilla and Mafia Wars etc attracts 80% of Facebook, then one really come to rethink that if the strategy to keep the place personal only was helping at first place?

I still love Orkut and still know, the traffic to Orkut is true traffic rather than that of game freaks (the case with Facebook), who will sooner or later get bored with games and then will be frustrated that there is nothing like friend updates in Facebook, but just Farmvilla updates…. but still I wish to ask question that why Google failed to bring more developers in orkut? Simplicity may not be the best policy always.

Cloud Computing: Somewhere we don’t see what Google might be seeing for future. Google’s each move heads towards cloud computing. Similar things were started from Microsoft, who wanted to place best solutions for everything that a user might ask for, but now Google seems to be more aggressive on the same front.

Google is heading to the topology of “One Account for all” and their recent XOAuth step seems to be right step in right direction. They already have placed all common services on cloud, be it search, mails, blogging, news, feeds, photos, maps, friends, entertainment or anything one do with computers. Chrome OS meant to be the gate of cloud computing, where one login will make you working from anywhere and from any device.

Yes! they had removed the necessity of having a Google Account for their Chrome OS, but still that clears the intentions. What do you think the Google’s obsession for speed, Launch of Google Docs, which enables you to read all common kind of documents online without any installation, advancement of YouTube and its agreement with Media giants to provide full movies or cricket shows like IPL, Google Books, Google translations and flooding like a rage plugins for Google Chrome; is all random?

Google seems to have learned that sometimes things that come in packages and work decently win over specialized products, examples been Outlook Express and Internet Explorer. The rise of NetBooks and popularity of Google Docs really have made it possible for Business persons doing their work with minimal and cost effective setup. Being comfortable with such a system is the first step towards Cloud Computing and though Microsoft started this, but Google making it a reality for sure.

GoogleAppsEd2-717009

If we see from Google’s point of view, then it makes sense that you login though one account on Chrome OS and you will get all your work ready for you in the same state, you left it. Either it be your docs, your movies, your social networking with Orkut, your blogging with Blogger, your feeds via Google reader, your status updates via Google Buzz and so on.. moreover, once XOAuth starts working in that direction then it would also be easy to announce that all these services wont be sharing data (that could be a security concerns). Definitely Google understands that most of the users might prefer working with what comes out of box like they did with Internet Explorer or Outlook Express.

But question is, even if you seems to be winning in long run, why not to treat each service separate to make them best on their own? Didn’t Internet Explorer Team working in the same way now? Haven’t people started leaving Internet Explorer at last?

  • Orkut is still the best about functionality, just what needed is more attention and more people to it. At least few of giant applications, games etc.
  • Google Buzz requires celebrities as Twitter is riding on flow of early initiative? It needs to work on integration with services like Twitter is going along with Facebook, WordPress and all. Definitely its more powerful and APIs are available to do so, but still if developers are not catching, then Google should take it in own hands to make them catch up. How can you think that costly Android devices are enough for spreading Buzz? No apps for Symbian, no integration with Gravity etc and you think that you can make it popular? Think again…
  • Blogger needs to learn basics from WordPress. Something like WordPress.org needed to hand over the whole code to users. More of it, needs to integrate things in a way that one could get things working out of the box, be it states, widgets or professional looking themes? I find lack of flexible themes from Google itself as a major fault, at least should showcase 50-100 themes in dashboard like WordPress does.

Acquisitions; are they pose some issues as well?

When you acquire some new company then you mingle with entirely new set of rules that company might be following, a different environment, a different system that might have been crucial for working of the same. Sure,  the pieces don’t fit together that easily, but still users expect a lot. Orkut users expect that why not Picasa albums and Orkut Albums could be combined or have some link between them. Picasa users expect that why they are under 1 GB limit, when Orkut Albums could enjoys around 10, 000 pics means many GBs. I  understand the technical/ administration aspects, know that both of them are different services and acquitted at different times and its never been in Google that you change entire way of working once you take over some company.

mergers_acquisitionsBut users expect as other services from your side already keeping the bar higher. Obviously integrating things asks for compromises as you cant go with downtimes and can’t predict what will be the response, if you come to change something entirely. Obviously acquisitions pose some issues that take a little time to go off and that time might be crucial for an early initiative.

Even after writing this much long, I might not be sure that what other reasons might be, same with Google, I guess. My verdict is Social Services are different in the manner that early initiatives, spreading, integration with other services and reach to mass in simplest manner is what keep them going .. sometimes being technically better might not be sufficient.

Third party developers

developersBigPicGoogle needs third party developers a lot. To work over Symbian Apps for their Social Services, to work over engaging applications/ games for Orkut etc. Google Maps is brilliant, Gmail App is cool, but Orkut App is crap in looks as Jad apps might be limited in their functionalities. Needs to come out from the same. Twitter/ Facebook/ LinkedIn all getting apps for Symbian and others to get people catching up with them. You can’t rule out already popular things, if wanna growth of own things. Have to support Symbian Apps. Aren’t Gmail/ Google Maps App been a tremendous success? Being open has made Google a success and that’s what needs to go on.

Nokia N82-Still clicks like my heartbeats

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

Add to Google Buzz

Sometimes, you cherish your decisions, you once made in blink of eye against the verdict of others. Buying Nokia N82 after loosing my Nokia N70 in a theft, was really that sort of decision, I never regretted later on.

Note: Please do not consider this as a review for Nokia N82 as I just thought to share what I think about my this lovely companion. After all, when I already had written about others like Nokia 5800, Nokia N900 and Nokia N97 mini, then why should I leave the one, I always loved most? A tribute to my journey with N82.

Bought two and half years back, somewhere in October 2007, Nokia N82 was not my instant choice, given lots of thoughts to it, due to its price tag and my lack of interest in Smart phone features then. I was already having a decent 4MP digital camera and used Nokia N70 before. Could say, even Nokia N70 was a new world to me and my fun with it was limited to FM and decent 2 MP camera only. Should say with N82, it was for the first time, when I went for buying some smart phone with a keen eye over features.

nokia-n82-04

What was special with Nokia N82 and what was competition?

The other one in my mind was Nokia N73, in price range 13.5k I guess, providing decent photographs, 2GB memory and nice voice quality without headphone. Probably, these were the things an average consumer look for.

N82 and N73

I was looking for something else. Something, which may sustain the requirements for longer run. Something which must be awesome on camera either it be video or stills , must be high on connection side 3G, Wifi, GPS etc., with longer battery life, music side must be core and still with an elegant business look.

face-off-1

Nokia N95 and Nokia N82 were close options to me, but the details favored the later released one more. Nokia N82 was more worth to price. Let’s see why?

  1. More RAM: Though lesser internal memory than Nokia N95, 100 MB in comparison to 160 MB of Nokia N95, but Nokia N82 was with just double amount of RAM, 128 MB, which actually matter, when it comes to performance.
  2. More comfortable: Display size was little less 2.4” in comparison to 2.6”, but still it was with a good build. Less on weight and no sliding (I wasn’t in favor in those days as susceptible to failure in long run). Keypad was something unique about it, which actually raised my typing on cell. Though criticized by people in first look, but once used to, keypad was really sweet heart!!!
  3. Better connectivity: Though it missed Infrared (Outdated), but GPRS was still faster and same with GPS performance. Micro USB was sure better option than Mini USB, though I wished in those days that what if charging through Micro USB was also included.
  4. Better memory support: Nokia N82 was not only providing you 2GB card included in package in similar price, but the support was also up to 16GB in comparison of 8GB limit of Nokia N95. I really didn’t thought till recently (when I got to be with Nokia 5800 and Nokia N900) that one would be wishing for more than it.
  5. Best Camera ever: Though today, I yet to give Nokia N86 a try, but not only specification sheets and reviews, Nokia N82 always got more praises than any other in the league. Xenon flash was way better than LED one with Nokia N95.. perhaps the deal breaking for me. I have tried almost every camera phone from Nokia till now, but even after two and half years none of them came to actually beat Nokia N82. I always wondered that why Nokia didn’t continued with Xenon Flash?
  6. Better battery: I was envy of business phones in those days for their longer running batteries, though they were nowhere near in Multimedia department. Was finding the best within Multimedia phones and a 1050 mAh was sure better than a 950 mAh of Nokia N95.

So, that was easy to make the decision, even if price was high (even then were less than that of Nokia N95), but I was betting for future and it didn’t let me down till now.

How it still holds its relevance?

After two year later, now I understand that the decision for buying Nokia N82 was like hitting the jackpot unknowingly as it holds its relevance even now, even when we are talking about iOS, Android and Symbian^3, ^4. Going behind 3G and Xenon was a such great decision, which kept we N82 users proud till even now.

Though Nokia and most of the Smartphone users seems to be loving touch phones more and more, but for me, touch was meant to drain more battery for sure and for many a times, not that accurate as some keys might be. I was always a keyboard person rather than mouse one :P. So, in this way Nokia N82 was kind of flagship in non-touch phones from Nokia with legendary camera skills. You wont believe it but I have snapped more than 5000 pics through the same and even videos been of DVD quality. I always found myself in love with its camera, which still stands like God.

I have experienced 600 MHz processor with Nokia N900 and went through Nokia 5800, Nokia N97 Mini etc and really know how wonderful it would be being with some snapdragon 1 GHz processor, Still a Dual ARM 11 332 MHz processor with 3D Graphics HW Accelerator was ahead of league that time as rest came later on and even now, it fairs very well. Either it be GPS or be it support with apps like Fring, Nokia Image Exchange, Nokia Messaging and youtube, you never find yourself stuck with something, which is holding you back in advancing technology. It was a privilege to have a Nokia N82.

People may be lured by a similar looking recently released Nokia N79, which is available in 13k now days and offers same 5MP camera with slight better processor and 4GB card included in package. Lighter in weight and price, but people miss the fact that its a compromise version without Xenon Flash, without 3D accelerator Hardware and lesser memory support. The same reasons Nokia N82 faired much better than Nokia N95 in past.

I am adding a few screenshots to show how it holds after latest firmware’s

Whom I find beating Nokia N82?

For people preferring non-touch phones, I think Nokia N82 been a winner from a longer while and will be loveable till Nokia doesn’t come up with another 5MP Camera with Xenon again. Though I should say E72 seems to have shaken my thoughts. Internal memory, Processor, Connectivity, GPS and Battery life.. it seems to be winning in all departments except the led flash, which sure not Xenon, but fair better than others.

e72_black_01_lowres1Though Nokia N900, Nokia N97 Mini and Nokia 5800 have made me addicted to big screens but still who could manage without touch screen or that bigger screen, Nokia E72 does the job much better than anything else around. I really wanna check out one. Probably the only one, I find could replace my Nokia N82 otherwise, even with Nokia N900, I would like to keep my Nokia N82 as backup phone for sure.

Even if I leave excellent connectivity options and power within this legend a side, its camera alone worth of keeping it with you forever.

Update: Something I recently discovered. Good News Farmville fans out there, you can play Farmville on Nokia N82 with Skyfire Browser now (Available in Ovi Store).

Did you come to see the recently released movie "Kartik Calling Kartik"? A ordinary guy, bullied by everyone else around him, all of a sudden find someone telling all the right paths to him and turning miseries of his life overnight into success coming from all over to his ways. Do you know whose voice that was? His own self. Surprised?? You can’t be/ shouldn’t be, if you ever been in writing diaries.

diary_open_520In moments of confusions with lots of questions swinging around, sometimes it can happen to you that you open a mail sent by yourself long time back and you find that the questions which seem to confusing you now, you already had answered them long back by yourself. You open few old sent mails years back and get surprised by even your own writing style then. Human mind has so many dimensions that leave others a side, one can’t even reach all the corners of his/ her own mind.

Diary … words written by self for self (May be someone else could have defined it more simply.)

One can never be sure, but historical counts say that the oldest extent diaries come from Middle Eastern and East Asian cultures though there been existence of similar things even much before that. For me, its something as old as human history itself is, but question is "what exactly it is?"

diaryA diary is a record (originally in handwritten format) with discrete entries arranged by date reporting on what has happened over the course of a day or other period. The writer may detail more personal information and normally intended to remain private or to have a limited circulation amongst friends or relatives. The writer may also describe recent events in his/her personal diary. The word "journal" may be sometimes used for "diary," but generally one writes daily in a diary, whereas journal-writing can be less frequent.

Oops.. I did it again. Went techie as many of my  readers keep on complaining me, though intended to keep it simple straight from heart. Coming back again…

I remember my own days, back to 1995, when I was in 8th standard. Don’t know what prompted me start writing diaries. May be father’s old diary might have been an inspiration or I thought to share my deep self to someone I trusted most in my life; myself. Started in simple Hindi, soon it was converted to English .. may be I thought to use this ‘useless’ habit to improve my English skills then.

When you start writing diaries, then you really come to know that what privacy is and why you wish it most ww11-secret sometimes. While it regarded as kind of sin, but nothing could interest others more than someone’s personal diary and you soon find yourself running around to find places to hide your diary as it starts growing up with your raw thoughts and secrets, which you might not wishing someone else to know at least at that point. Same happened to me, when I ended up converting my rather simple diaries into cryptic comments or rather a cryptic language.

I took two ways then …

  1. Mirror writing in which I was writing in way that would be plain English if seen in some mirror otherwise seeming confusing symbols.
  2. Writing diary in numeric codes (‘0’ for ‘a’, ‘1’ for ‘b’ and placing dots above numeric after 9).

Many of people around me found the second way more fascinating and interesting than the first one as I was able to write and read that way with same ease and speed as the usual English phrases. But still it was pretty easy to guess and once scared the hell out of me, when I found my mom trying to read it through mirror (I always kept my diaries at hidden places, but you know that you cant be sure about it) and ended to join both the techniques means writing in numeric with mirror image symbols.

You might be thinking that what is it now? If wanted to keep things that personal then what purpose of even writing the same? But once you start writing then you come to know that this things is really addictive.

Purposes that a diary solves

Its true that one cant be honest even with self and the diary is second to self. It happens that you write only those things/ thoughts in your diary, which at some point of your life you think that you could admit as of own but still it collects so much of your raw thoughts that even you feel surprised that did I really thought this then?

Your restlessness about getting just a mere glimpse of someone special, your jealously even pretending like nothing happened, your moving crushes and point of interests, your grief about your loneliness, your anger over restrictions from family, your joy of winning something you think other will think stupidity of yours, your true ambitions rather than what you say in front of your parents and friends, your dreams …. possibilities are endless about what you might be writing in your diaries and over the time, it become most precious friend of yours. Someone who listens you most patiently without commenting and answering you about your confusions in a voice you understand and trust most, yours own.

type-purpose A diary might be collection of some random writing of yours, thoughts might be foolish, but it starts making you mature and complete faster than otherwise you could only wonder. Interesting sights becomes the moments to see same words calming you down, which you once wrote in your most restlessness. A diary truely completes yourself.

When you leave it locked and quit writing?

Later on coping up with the time required to pen down your thoughts become more tougher considering other priorities of yours. Other people come to your life to share all the personal moments and thoughts of yours. Even you come to feel that you found the purpose that started your habit  of writing diaries and the loneliness is no more in your life, so diaries ……. not required now. More of it, even there might be things in life such that one don’t wanna to share ever, not even with self.

In more sophisticated way, we start thinking that we took diaries to recollect our thoughts, then re-evaluate the same to improve ourselves at stages and over the years, we find that now nothing remained to improve, we have already made our views and lives those are not gonna undergo some such big change that may require re-evaluation at any later stage. Ultimately,  you say that you don’t wished to be writer or never wanted that someone might be writing biography over you.

locked secret

Is it true? Writing diaries is fate of big people only? Can you be so certain of yourself that nothing to re-evaluate, when yourself seen so many changes over the years? Do you really think that you got the purpose that why you started writing diaries at the very first place? Do you think that over the time, it becomes impossible and even useless to keep on writing thoughts that touch your mind? Do you think that any other voice you can understand more, trust more than yourself?

Blogs, Social sites, Twitter (it suits first part of definition about time, though fails about privacy thing), SMS’s and insanely running life may make you think that Diaries are irrelevant in this era, but have a night alone awake thinking of only self. Don’t you want to write diary for self or revoke the same old habit of writing again???

Give me your thoughts over it. I’ll love it, if I find someone starting afresh again due to the conversations ..

I felt very disappointed when still read many posts or article with negative sentiments for Earth Hour or things like this. Not annoyed like I was used to be in past, but even then thought to post some thoughts ….

frustration I heard on the same day on twitter, when someone was saying something like “Who needs the earth hour, when already 8-10 hours power cuts all over in India?” and even funnier quotes like “should medieval times of history be called as The Earth Ages?” or “Can the #earthhour cause a potential babyboom 9 months later?

Yes!! I smiled over the last quotes, but felt really bad for the purpose of the campaign. I read posts like Say No to Earth hour or people comparing it with other campaigns calling it Hippocratic or something like that.

Is getting publicity for yourself coz you are talking against the flow matters this much that even innocent campaigns can’t be left?

I would like to recall the experiences from RDB, there are many problems in this country, too many of those corrupt politicians, who love to wear currency in their neck, a system that doesn’t work for you at all… yes!!! all is here. But how much your just talking solves it? May be people are hyper about Climate change? May be you have enough money that dont wanna save some electricity bills?

But this Earth Hour is not about saving electricity. I repeat that its not for saving electricity …. do you think that one hour electricity from like some eleven-twelve hundreds of cities that too with support of not all people gonna save some electricity for some secret government project?

blame1

We blame governments for almost everything that why can’t they give us 24 hour electricity? why can’t they give us 24 hour water? why can’t they give us jobs? what the hell these moron traffic policemen have to do, if we are not wearing helmets or forgot to renew our insurance?

Ok!!! I accept all of this, but what’s point of relating this to Earth Hour? Why in India, we cannot afford Earth Hour? We can … we already did without being asked for Earth hour… wanna know???

Recession!!!!!! we cried over it for long in last months. I seen companies pushing hard over cutting extra telephone bills, extra electricity bills and all… even we did a lot at our homes. Even I seen in my company or many others in which my friend work, avoiding late night works, switching off ACs when those are not that much needed. Were they doing it for some World Earth Hour?? Don’t tell me that you didn’t do anything like that just for saving ‘your own’ pocket. Didn’t these all felt at some point that they should have been doing it since much before? What’s wrong in participating in some symbolic event like this?

earthhour3crop-420x0

Earth Hour didn’t asked anyone to switch off their light completely, if anyone took it wrong, then its their fault. It wasn’t meant to save some electricity, it was to show that we can, if we bring this habit in our daily life. Meaning was to switch off whatever you think that you can manage without for just an hour. What’s problem you felt in that? If things going wrong around you, then does that mean that you shouldn’t do anything good even so harmless like this?

Please explain to me that why anyone has problem with this Earth hour? Do anyone forcing you? Do anyone asked money from you? Will you die, if your lights in lawn and kitchen went switched off for an hour? Why can’t the whole family watch the same show on same TV for an hour just for one day? Why can’t you all sit on dinner together with all the lights of whole house except the lobby switched off? Is it that hard for you? Really????

I know someone could come up to answer me, they would again talking about power cuts, taxes, social issues, important problems etc etc… but are you doing anything about all of that? World Earth Hour was a harmless way to grab your chance. Why you wanted to miss that?
