My Name is Khan and I am not a terrorist

“  Just finished watching the superb My Name Is Khan and here are the tweets that I made while watching  MNIK. My twitter page could be found here. Share your experience with me. “

MNIK

It went wrong that we got Shivsena seeming against with it, but MNIK requires support in much broader sense. Its not about Shivsena, its not about Hindu-Muslim or Hindustan-Pakistan, its about humanity and about the lesson that the name doesn’t make a man terrorist.

Watch and Show Hindi Movies online

Many people might be searching for such titles, whenever some movie get released. Sometimes due to poor cam quality of CDs / DVDs that hit to market in early rounds or just for free access of movies. Its been illegal since long, but was an already established trend to download movies online, which seems to be much difficult to stop or keeping track of. It seems that finally movie business started to respond in creative ways.

First I got to hear some weeks back that 3 Idiots will come online on YouTube after 12 weeks of release as announced by the director itself and today when I was just checking my subscriptions, then came across an article from Digital Inspiration that says about the collection of Hindi movies already online. Fun is that these are legal to be distributed like normal YouTube links. I am not sure about Revenue Sharing Program of YouTube, but many big banners like Shemaroo Entertainment, Rajshri, Sony Pictures, CBS, MGM, Lions Gate Entertainment, Starz and UltraHindi already seems to join the same.

This might be good way to get profit from dead market big movies of past. Whatever, but its a too good news for movie lovers, they could get hold on their favourites, whenever and wherever they want… not to mention.. all the movies are available in high quality. 🙂 Although till now, only a handful of movies there, hoping that soon more will be added and also some quality content from English Movie stock.

London Dreams: Dreams are life and life …?

Look like the Film Industry woke up again after a dull period and after giving up shit kind of movies in last few weeks except Wake Up Sid, finally some fresh fruit cake arrived. London Dreams did exactly the same, what it was expected to do, it rocks in spite of the facts that remain unfolded at the end in the same way human heart is; Dreams are life and life …?

Amadeus; Is the name rings a bell? No!!! Let me give you a hint. It’s a movie that won straight Eight Oscars. Oh! I am sorry, even I didn’t know the name till London dreams reviews brought it to my notice. It’s the movie, London dreams was actually based upon. Milos Forman’s Amadeus traced the stormy comradeship between Antonio Salieri (F Murray Abraham), the Vienese court composer, and legendary genius, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce), while London Dreams talk about the tale of friendship and envy, the story is about two close buddies. While one is Arjun (Ajay), the ambitious guy who believes only in his goal and that is to become famous on the stage so that he fulfills his grandfather’s dream, on the other hand, there is Mannu (Salman) who lives for the moment and is a charmer with his honest heart. Both Arjun and Mannu have a rare passion for music.

The few words from the Official London Dreams Website

Mannu (Salmaan Khan): Loud and boisterous, he is loveable rouge who chases women, drinks heartily and is heavily into debt. He is an absolute devil, who happens to sing like angel. His only redeeming feature is his absolute belief in his friendship with Arjun.

Arjun (Ajay Devgan): Intense and darkly brooding, he is a complex man burdened by guilt, jealousy and the belief that God has abandoned him. But he’s also deeply committed to making the dream that haunted him childhood into reality. Such is his compulsion to fulfill his dream that he doesn’t hesitate to manipulate and destroy the one human being who has implicit and total faith in him – his friend Mannu.

Priya (Asin): She is this conservative South Indian Girl weaned on Carnatic music and Bharatnatyam who heart secretly yearns for hip hop and rock. When she meets Arjun, she’s impressed by his intensity and love for music and then she meets bold, bad Mannu, who declares his love for her at first sight. She laughs him off, little realizing that she’s going to be the catalyst who will turn the dreams into nightmares.

Zoheb (Ranvijay): He is blindly loyal to Arjun and only sees the world through the prism of Arjun’s eyes – and so Arjun’s joy is his joy, Arjun’s pain is his pain and Arjun’s perceived enemy, he makes his own too.

Wasim (Aditya): He may be Zoheb’s brother. He may be as loyal to Arjun, but isn’t as blind and retained the capacity to tell right from wrong… good from bad.

London Dreams plays out like a classical Amadeus story, where two friends, one jealous of the other for his talent and recognition, plots the downfall against the other behind his back in betrayal most foul. Arjun (Ajay Devgan) has a dream, and that is to take his music to London, and play at the renowned Wembley stadium, where his grandfather had failed in his time and ended with death leaving the family with a hatred for music. He spends his early teenage life honing his musical skills, and ever ready to sniff out any opportunity to scale the music ladder until his goal is reached. His is a singular mind obsessed with the single goal, so much so that he’s willing to self-flagellate (!) himself when his mind gets swayed by Priya (Asin) and the chance for romance, or any other distractions that crosses his path that day actually.

Ajay Devgn plays Arjun with enough menace and envy to make him believable as a man who would go to great lengths and at any costs to ensure his road to glory is not jeopardized. Salman Khan’s Mannu on the other hand, is blessed with great musical talent without even trying, and while Arjun sees this as an advantage to be gained should he bring Mannu back to London and join his band, little did he realize that Mannu’s country boy demeanour would start to win the fans over, as well as Priya. There are plenty of scenes which set up this innocent usurping of another’s thunder, and the decisions that come to spark off the entire turn of events just after the intermission.

Leaving all the detailing from here. Here are my comments…

Loved the way, Mannu chased the girl in his teenage and also his one liners all the way. J You call me Devil from Inside, I might be, but don’t say that you didn’t smiled over the same.

Many of us, might have waited for the same movie for the another look of the beautiful Asin and believe me, she starts from the same place, she finished in Ghajini. As much of screen, she got, she rocked, either it be the first appearance or it goes with romancing with Mannu, she did it perfectly and superb part of the same was; she was not to do the loud part as she did in Ghajini and her character always been sober and glamorous throughout the movie. Long way to go for the girl in Hindi movies too.

Back to Arjun, somewhere I find myself at the same losing side as Arjun and so I chosen the same title. Dreams are life and if even after doing everything right, we don’t get them then? Movie says in Om Puri’s words that it’s wrong to think that only you deserve, it’s wrong to be heartbroken on one defeat. Arjun heard these words and came back to his friend, but I still left with the question, what if we betted our life on the same dream? What if that defeat meant to change our lives? What if we will never be able to justify that why not we, why someone else without efforts? May be the film tried to answer, may be literature answers the same question, maybe I am enough mature to understand, but still the same question remained …..

What’s my fault, why I have destiny against me?

You call Arjun devil, I will not. You think he did wrong, I think he still lost. You think Mannu has the big heart, but I know he will never be able to bring best smile for Arjun as he lost the same.

Yes! It’s still a sad ending for me.

Wait! Wait! All this is personal comment. Movie is superb. A must watch even if Aladin is in competition (it’s a kid movie yaar). Salmaan proves again that he is still part of king trio. J

Waiting for the movie, then watching it with expectations relating with Saawaria and Bachna Aae Hasino, but finding it some much of a better and touching perspective than anything else. May be many people after watching the movie just come out discussing Ranbir and Konkana’s unusual on-screen chemistry or thinking about links between Dil Chahta Hai, but for me or many like me, it was something to let us know that at some places, we all are a bit or more of a SID. For me, there were many points to notice in the same movie and I really don’t know how to cover them all in a ‘little’ article (readable in sense). Let me start ….

The story is all about Siddharth aka SID; his just-after-college life like any of us clueless youth about his aims in life and his kind of platonic love story with Aisha; a small town girl with a bit defined aims of life, but still learning bits of life. Then how it crafts SID boy to man (?) or somehow moving into stream of life finally. A platonic love kind of .. not Yash Chopra brand, but a little more real in another sense. Anyway …

Although there was an association with the name of Karan Johar, but there was almost nothing like his element in this movie and so we could agree with his own claim that he left it complete in hands of the debutant director Ayan Mukerji, who shined up with his own simple but beautifully crafted story, mixing it with Music of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, live dialogues of Niranjan Iyengar and just in motion with tempo of movie composing of Amit Trivedi.

Sometimes, we know that we are wrong at places or at many places, even we know that what we need to do, but even then feel lazy to move a little as we know that we have change almost everything of our crazy life. No.. it’s not shown this much complex on screen, as the story moved just like the same flow, but it ignites many such thoughts in my mind. We get attitude in us and answer rudely sometimes and then trying to patch up again and again on other’s arguing about our life and things as we know that they are saying right, but the question is why are they saying? Where are they helping us in changing things to get better for us? Or even if they are doing best for us, then why are we not able to adjust with that as well? Frustration of youth after a few ups and downs with influences of people around you, finally places you in some place of this world, may be you were to be there.

At another end of story, Aisha; knows a little about her aim, her kind of boy, her kind of life, but still knowing or not knowing how she will get or how the things will get mature at the end. Get in touch with SID and didn’t get to know that when he brought all chaos of his own life and why she always been with him with all her modesty. May be he was only one around her to accompany her in this new life.

The special part of the movie, which keeps it different from era love story, was their in-compatibility. Aisha was not of Sid’s type or he never thought of his type of girl like he never thought of work or life ever and Sid was boy for Aisha, a cute boy, but not dependable man. She get an almost ideal for her in her boss Rahul Khanna, but soon come to know the practically perfect somewhere doesn’t suit her soul. There love story was different like the conversation between them says, when SID asks that why didn’t they fallen in love for each other rather than being friends only. Aisha replies just coz it didn’t happened and later explained that he is never a kind of boy, she would be happy being with for rest of life means he might be cute kid, but not a man in her world. Just this is the love story in its honesty, not a Yash Chopra or mostly known cheesy brand of love, or some kind of we all might know by popularly.

Aisha’s devotion and attachment without asking anything, with bearing every little wrong thing of SID, brings Sid towards maturity step by step, which everyone tried, but didn’t got him with them in their attempts. Even he tries to change for her, like learning making omelet for her and then disappointment when for her it was like nothing, but just normal. He slowly learns to change his chaotic daily routine and somehow Aisha made him fitted for some office job, while he was clueless that will he do something ever? He knows that he is not what Aisha wish and Aisha knows he is fine, but should have been more perfect, but even then they want company of each other with expressing it. Aisha know that she wish and SID not even know directly, but .. Ranbir was just natural for the role and so was Konkana, the chemistry went truly and most cute was the first date (?) of them. I really liked that coz …… might be been sometimes in :P.

The most special part, which few will start noticing soon was the magical realness in emotions. None of the emotion was loud, be it disappointment and helpless longing of a mother, who continuously tried to be a friend of her son or be it anger and frustration of a father, who want to get his son back in real life or be it Sid’s inner anger in failing continuously and dejection from every side or be it growing annoyance of Aisha on her all over stressed life either it be breakup of Sid’s friend. Everything was so light that you don’t even come to know that it happened and passed. The transition from a laid back thrown to winds attitude to someone who values independence is so subtle and smooth that you never realize when it happened. It is just the denial and dejection that brought about the change which Sid could not feel with his parents.

May be if Aisha would have broke out to shout above a limit or if Sid might have got some more pushed back rejection from life then it was in just other ways? The laid back boy was required only such a lightweight transformation and just this was the special about the movie. Sometimes, we picture a great concept so simply and just wait for someone to notice it, get disappointed a lot and just get satisfied only if just one get notice of the same J

Lots to say about the movie, but stopping the article in kind of middle, coz don’t want to raise expectations. Many things to say, but that will be addressed by other’s reviews. This was a piece of me. Hope some of you might like it.
