A full detailed Interactive Nokia N8 Unboxing-All Videos

Do you know what we Nokia fans do on twitter now days? Most of the timeline of mine goes on talking about Nokia N8 and why not.. where else we have something like a 12 megapixel mobile camera with Xenon, where else we have a gorgeous 3.5” screen with capacitive multi-touch, such a superb anodized aluminum body and where else many more things like this come at a price of under 25k INR? If you could hold yourself not talking about such a thing, then you must be brave for sure.

I guess one day back, I said that I wont be writing anything over Nokia N8 till I wont get the same in my hands as was really feeling jealous with my mate bloggers of the gang, who had their hands on this shiny new toy of town. Moreover, the whole blogger world is buzzing this much about Nokia N8 that it leaves really little for you to talk about Nokia N8, when you might have not seen it in real yet.

That was what I decided one day back, but here comes Nokia, here comes Womworld and 1000Heads, here comes the bonding they make with us in way like no one else does. You might have seen stories of many trial devices from Nokia to bloggers in past and some very exciting competitions .. but hold your breath, something most amazing happened today…

While I was already watching the interactive videos being uploaded by Nokia since Mondays and controlling my excitement about Nokia N8 somehow (I must say, no other smart phone from the past might have excited we Indians this much) , but it was till 1954 hrs of today …

After a stressing day at office, when I was really tired after reaching back to home crossing the terrible, rainy traffic and checked my mail box on my Nokia N82’s Nokia Messaging account, there was a mail from our very own Lydia and the WOMWorld/Nokia team

Hey Nitish!
Hope all is well over on your side?

Thought we’d drop you a quick mail to let you know the guys over at Nokia put a little surprise together for you 🙂

Not only are you the first person to see this, but you’ve also got a personal introduction to it all!

Let us know what you think, and feel free to share.

The intro:

Lydia and the WOMWorld/Nokia team

This all got me suddenly much excited and excitement crossed the boundaries once, I downloaded the video from the link given in mail. Promise you guys @1000Heads, if ever, I owned a company, then you will be my marketing team, only you .. no one else.. you are beyond magic… just awesome.

Wanna know, why I am this much excited about the video? Check out the video yourself ..

Whoaa!! She took my name… how come Nokia came to know that out of those three people, I liked her most. I am still like dreaming… should say.. awesome was just a word before today.. now its a real feeling. Thanks Guys thanks.. you got me.. you totally got me.

People talk about Apple’s marketing and say that Nokia should learn a thing or two from them, but today I really think that if Nokia really need such marketing?

You need marketing to sell something ridiculously higher priced device that come to change your habits and leaving you constrained about features without pouring extra bucks at each step. You can’t make a complain as people will ask that why you bought something in double price and you become fanboy.

Nokia never been into such marketing and that’s the reason, you even find many negative words over bad products from even we like bloggers, whom people many times call Nokia fanboys, but still we are family, yes!! family… a word that is too easy to be spoken and used, but making people part of your family is something that is beyond marketing. Nokia is part of lives of ours… isn’t it?

Let me introduce you all something that really don’t need any kind of marketing to sell it … Nokia N8 unboxing in most awesome way, you might have ever imagined.

The blue boxes, as I seen with Nokia Booklet 3G, but so many of them… it feel really itchy and we feel like even begging from Womworld for our share from it.

We got three amazingly hot unboxers here presenting three streams …

1. Brenda the elegance: Brenda, whom I liked most among the three even before receiving the mail, is here to unbox the Blue Nokia N8. A color, which I would like chose if someone says that Black is dangerous to my life (otherwise Black is my color). I wonder that how come Womworld guys there knew that I liked her most?

Brenda represents the sober and elegant class, who weighs any product just not by exteriors, but by its features, its elegance … in short in most sensible way of judging. Truly speaking, she is so sober that it was hard to decide that what to look.. her face or Nokia N8.. LOL

In first part, she talks about things inside the box, which we will see in next videos as well. She shows each and every component of the Nokia N8 box and the first thing that relieves us is … yes!! we do have a proper length USB cable here (Thanks God! Nokia got the point finally). She shows the special stylus for the capacitive screen with the note that its available in select regions only and we really pray that it will arrive in India too.

Let’s see other part of the unboxing videos by Brenda that could be navigated to from end of the last video.

Five Vibrant colors of Nokia N8

After the unboxing get over, she demonstrates the five different colors of Nokia N8 here. While at one side, people are still waiting after months for white colored version of something… here Nokia coming with five brilliant colors from the day one. Yup!! for many, it’s hard to decide, which one to go for.

Multiple Home screens to choose and customize in one Nokia N8

Multiple home screens provide one a much better and larger space to put their priorities in their own unique ways. I loved the fact that Nokia kept the implement up to three screens only as it didn’t make sense to have like some dozens screen. Think you could have hundreds of icons on your desktop, but is that a good idea?

720p HD Recording

I still remember the days, when we were hiring professionals to shoot our videos in functions and not many were able to afford Digicams to record their precious moments. Then came the era of mobile camera and life really changed. I really think that youtube wouldn’t been such a big site, if there were no mobile cameras around. May be exaggerated my statement look like, but man.. look at the resolution.. where are we…  its not the resolution, but its the revolution.

Social Networking

It really surprises you that how social networking has became an integral part of our lives. Its not long that when internet was meant to be Yahoo messenger and mails only. But today twitter and facebook like sites became bigger than anything. Facebook and twitter has as many users as not even many country might be having citizens in total. Sure the credit is to smart phones and when someone like Nokia N8 comes with Integrated Social Networking then..

Seamless Multi-tasking

There is a big world of apps out there when we talk about other operating systems and it looks like they have apps for everything.. even making a call also an app for them, I guess and may be even Antenna … what’s profit of having apps for little things which we never thought that should be separate thing from OS itself? What’s part of installing hundreds of small apps in your memory and keep on moaning that we have millions of apps out there for bucks, when you can’t run and navigate through even 12 together. That’s where you say..

Nokia is Nokia and Symbian still rules when it comes to Multi-Tasking.

2. Ryan the Geek: Geek.. someone on twitter said that when it comes to Nokia, then every Tom and Harry become Geeky and expert on mobile technology. I guess that should be taken as a compliment that how natural and simplified the technical innovations of Nokia are. Ryan here presents a Geek’s perspective about Nokia N8.

He goes with same unboxing as Brenda gone through or might be with some geeky little details and then let’s zoom in, what more details, he wanted to share about Nokia N8…

Bright AMOLED Screen and tough body

Definitely that gonna be some divine experience, when such a live and talking AMOLED screen with play with our fingers and we thought that big screens are meant to better view only. The scratch resistant body really assures us that its same robust Nokia we lived with since decades.

Ultra-Sharp 12 mp Camera

When I talk about Camera of Nokia N86 some days back, then I mentioned that its not only about Megapixels, when someone make a camera and it really make us proud that no one knows it better than Nokia itself. Definitely Nokia N8 is beyond that whatever you might have expected from a successor of Nokia N82 and Nokia N86 likes. Your phone is much much more bigger and important thing now and you are very much ready for handling anything instantly.

Flash Support

“Flash website are just way cooler to look at” – it really made me smile that Nokia chosen to make an entire heading over it. We all know that whom are they referring to and we are all with them. Flash is here to stay and no one could keep on deciding that what way we choose to live with.

Flexible Keyboard

Definitely this is the most important part, I am looking for. I already said once that its gonna be hard for me to live with some only touch phone, so it become so much of important that how touch keyboard of Nokia N8 gonna feel in my hands. Though still not demonstrated anywhere, I would really like to see that how swype will perform over it and also a request from Nokia for coming with idea of transparent keyboard as well. Still proper support for Landscape and Portrait modes delights.

High Speed Symbian OS

May have faced much criticism with touch devices, Symbian been a real Gladiator when it comes to mobile phones and Symbian^3 really really have a lots of expectations from it. We really expecting that Nokia has removed all the annoyances, people might be complaining till now. Each video seems solid and smooth… itching to feel myself.

3. Suzy the sizzling hot: She alls herself sizzling hot and even we don’t deny the fact as while playing all the videos, our eyes kept slipping from Nokia N8 sometimes. When she talks about Nokia N8, then she really talk about entertainment, looks and compactness of things.

After her own way of un-boxing, she talks about going under skin of Nokia N8

12 Mega Pixel Camera

It might have a different meaning for a Geek like Ryan, while for fashion conscious people like Suzy, it opens up another vibrant world of colors.

HDMI Output

I really wonder, if Nokia N8 will push up the sales of HDMI monitors, which are really down in prices here in India up to an affordable level (I have seen 48” in 44k). My Nokia N82 been a personal digicam for me since years and I always challenged even professionals, really wonder that how the world will fall in front of me, once Nokia N8 arrives.

Two ways of charging up

Definitely its cool to have feature of USB charging if all of sudden your phone is low on battery and you have no 2mm chargers around (Though unlikely keeping Nokia’s popularity in mind).

Faster Micro USB Output

Nothing was frustrating you more, when your smart phone was taking too much time, when you wanted to get ready for some trip and wished to fill up your phone with Gbs of songs and movies at the last moment. Not only USB OTG has arrived to forget such worries forever, but the enhanced speed of Micro USB sure gonna blow your mind, when you will experience it.

Crisp Call Quality

When we talk about Call Quality and signal reception, then there were never other names and its always been the most pleasant part that while making design decisions like keeping the battery locked down, Nokia never even dreamed of making compromises like Antennagate.

Though still we will be wishing for a better front camera always. May be that will arrive when our network will be capable of providing better speeds (even 3G is not everywhere in India).

So, these were the details about the huge flood of videos from Nokia side in last two days and at the end, again I would like to thank Womworld Team to make me feel close to them, when I was wishing much lonely without any trial device like C6, E5 or without any plans of going to Nokia World.

Whatever I do.. I am with you guys.. always. People please join with my voice, if wanna say something.

By the way, whose unboxing you liked most? My heart goes on for Brenda… what about yours?

Nokia N8 finally seems to be on schedule

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

Started with @Sirajsoft words and twitpic (given below), my timeline seemed to be buzzing about Nokia N8 release date all day long and what seems to be spinning out in the air was something we were waiting since long … Nokia N8 finally seems to be on schedule. Yes!! the worldwide release will include India as well and its all set to be released in first week of September 2010.

 n8

There were words that some site claiming that it would be available within 4 weeks, if you order it now, but that seemed a fake as there are no official words from Nokia and anything such should come from Nokia officials first and four weeks?? Sounds too good to be true.

All of Indian bloggers started flooding Official Nokia sources like @NokiaIndia and finally we got something that we could call the official words ….

N8 Launch

Though pushing more over price point, they were in No Comments mode and replied ..

N8Launch

So, officially we could say that Nokia N8 coming to India in first week September (that would be before my birthday September 23), though there are no official words over price, but its seems to be something around or little more than ` 24, 000 (otherwise, they would have commented over price for sure) and probably lesser than ` 27, 000.

Well!! that also make things more interesting about some other things like price of Nokia N900. In the same way, we are expecting a price drop for Nokia 5800 after launch of Nokia X6 8Gb, we should be expecting a price drop for Nokia N900 as well. That sure gonna make the confusion more interesting, what if Nokia N900 like open device on offer for ` 20, 000 ?

What you think?

Netbook and Nokia N900 when Nokia N8 is coming

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

The most perfect words about Nokia N900 that I came to read very long back,

The people behind it, you know those other guys in that other building, are probably a bunch of geeks with a sense of mission. Somehow, someone at Nokia stole a prototype from their lab and decided to slap a N Series logo and a number “900” on it and actually released it to the mainstream. Those lab guys don’t even make phones. They make internet tablets. They have nothing to do with big old Symbian. They have their own open source based OS called Maemo (pronounce My Mo). – via 360east.com

Beautiful and very accurate were the words and struck right there with me and … we seen more and more words being told about this beast, many stories, many myths broken, every day a new idea, every night a new invention, whenever you run of reasons that why should you buy a N900 adding up a few limitations from here and there, another morning wakes you up telling that every other day of N900 is another reason to talk about Nokia N900.

We all know that something such big as Nokia N8 is coming, we all keep on hearing that what new things that would be able to do, we all know that there will be an all time best camera phone in hands of you all, but still sometimes I think that why is my post about N900 vs N8 still topping in blog stats? Why WomWorld still has more posts over Nokia N900 than anything else?

May be I thought to post it much earlier, may be it was something else in my mind that I thought to give few words, but the credit is for sure of Inspect-A-Gadget’s post, where he discards Nokia N900 a viable alternative to Netbook. I am really feeling like pushed to say something … really something

Why Nokia N900 competes well with a Netbook?

First of all, why we needed a Netbook?

Compact size? More easy to carry? You are always online in the way you wanted. You could check on emails, you posts and surf blogs, you share pics, you make even occasional edits via its inbuilt tools, make sketches, music and whatever you like to do in moments, you sneak out a few moments.

You are in a conference but you do not need a table to put anything like others (at least 10” I guess) and still you are on …. in each step with others with your just 3.5” device … you are not typing like others might be, but you are making occasional touch gestures and sometimes your fingers racing on small but perfect keypad of your Nokia N900. Sounds gracious na?

Some argue that its limited by it caliber and a full fledge windows is something that a Maemo wont do ever. But tell me, do you really wanna do some photo shopping on the go? Or Studio like FX-Effects? But does a Windows 7 Starter with probably 1GB RAM at most serves the purpose for some photo shopping or movie editing? Does Windows Starter really work that way or if we choose any other operating system or do some Photo shopping, then does Netbooks really provide you those acclaimed 8 hours?

I know Zahib doesn’t actually meant that and still many more examples could be given and I always pointed that it was kind of natural right for Nokia N900 to opt for a 1500 mAh battery.. but still think about trade offs of carrying a device exclusively with you for purpose or having something that is always with you.

Think you are going to a family wedding and made promises with family that no more office chik chik, no more sneaking into those laptops. Will you really explain your granny that its a Netbook not laptop? Will you carry a Netbook to the wedding place? Really? But you could stand tall with Nokia N900. You will say its a phone dude and the coolest one, you might have seen around. While you all might be waiting for this function to be over and by morning, you will all be uploading pics to facebook, blogs etc… hey hold it there.. I am already done, while I was taking drinks with you. Get a look on my page.

And inside you say… sigh!!! thanks God, I didn’t missed that mail and replied too with collected facts from some googling. That’s all when you weren’t thinking that you will be needed to do something like that here in the wedding.

Believe me, its Nokia N900 that you wanted, not some Netbook that screams that I am underpowered and even if small, no one can figure me out much different from a traditional Laptop…. damnn man!! you cant even carry a iPad everywhere with you, sure not in your pocket.

For me, its never a question that if Nokia N900 can serve as a Netbook, but the question is what a Netbook serves? A sense of limits whenever you think of doing something serious and a sense of burden, when you thought you going to carry light? Are Netbooks going to be pagers of past or will they fight with Notebooks more than mobiles of today?

Nokia N8 and Nokia N900

You see some iMorons all around looking for reasons to eat another iCrap, because web seems to be echoing about that, because that’s probably most well marketed thing in the world.

But why you are finding reasons to choose Nokia N900 over Nokia N8, when no one seems to be marketing things that way? Why you feel that Nokia N8 will do many new things, but still think that there seems to be no limit that you will do with Nokia N900.

Well!! I am confused, totally confused and I know you all are … at least many of you really are. I know coz I see search terms like N8 Vs N900 hitting my blog without missing a day. I know because I still think that when someone said the lines below, then it wasn’t Nokia N8, but Nokia N900 in the mind ….

Its not the technology, but its what you do with it.

Current price as ` 24, 500, while Nokia N8 scaring with quotes like 600$  or ` 30, 000 and that too when it will make it to India (not before in September 2010 and if it went like Nokia loves to do with India then …. ). I bet, the wait isn’t pretty easier for you and there are reasons to think once again … its a complete touch device, when it comes to Nokia N8, are you all for that?

What’s currently not right with with Nokia N900?

Due to more attention to Intel-Nokia MeeGo, focus was very early moved from Nokia N900 than it should have. We still get just a basic Ovi Maps over a top-notch A-GPS unit and no Google Maps here due to lack of Java Support. Honestly speaking… that annoy… annoy big time, when we already were somehow compromising without Gravity (even Android, Apple, BB users doing, so not that much complaining).

Nokia N900 shouldn’t be a step child to Nokia, it has rights to get cared of and sure rights to get promised for update option to MeeGo.

One day, I hear that Nokia N900 received some update an could do portraits as efficient as other things, another day, I hear that there is something that could make your Nokia N900 a remote control of your TV via its IR port, another day, hermes integrates contacts with Gmail, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Yahoo, Skype, MSN, Ovi or whatever you think, another day you get Fcam libraries got released, another day… … story moves on.

You cry that why you were so naive, when Paul wrote you for giving an Nokia N900 for trial? Why you were so lost in Alice‘s Wonderland of magic that forgot that its just 14 days? Why you think that you would have been doing much much more with the N900 than you actually did? Why you think that if there was a time machine that could have been taken you back to the time, when Nokia N900 was in your hands and then pauses the time right there.

Why do you wish that may be someday Paul or Katie may be extra generous to you for sending an N900 this way again or some NokiaIndia or WomWorldIndia (?) or Blogger’s Mind or anything such think of pouring some love over you again? Yes! a dream chase … I do wanna get a second chance with my EX… a second chance to rectify my mistakes that I didn’t given her the treatment, she deserved … 15 days were so little for someone, who got a first trial device, when it was a N900.

Is it DATE? #NokiaDate?

Digg This

You should have asked me for returning proto says Eldar

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

Think that your phone got stolen and after a few days you come to know that its with someone, who already knows that its yours. What should be your response? If you are aggressive then you will go for hitting the man that why he didn’t returned or if you are mature then you will make a polite request that please return my thing back. What if the person doesn’t reply or ignore all your requests? What will you do?

Edlar N8 proto

Seems like a roadside bully story, but very strange that it’s now becoming today’s fastest growing trend in tech world. Reviews, pre-views, leaks, lost prototypes been such frequent incidences that even we started assuming that bloggers are above law and they have rights to tell people what they wanted to tell.

Somehow we sympathize investigative reporters that they risk themselves to bring insider leaks in great interest of public and whenever someone such even after using all legally wrong means get nailed by authorities, then we speak in support of him because what he did was in greater interest of public. But aren’t such trends getting much harder to be tolerated by even most polite authorities?

I could also discuss that what damage the early review of an unfinished product cost to Apple’s iPhone release, I could also talk that how a biased pre-review  of an alleged ‘stolen’ proto forced Nokia to announce a product much earlier before their team could even finish it. I could also also talk about series of biased posts from the man himself and also mention my own past with some similar situation, where I was like Eldar in start of my blogging days … but many analysts will be out there to talk on that. Let me go simple here.

I guess today in early morning, we got to see a post from a public consultant about smart phones named Eldar Murtazin, who claimed that some Russian officials contacted him in morning asking for location of mobile-review.com over the leaks of Nokia N8 as Nokia complained with them that their trade secrets has been stolen and misused to cause a confusion. Later even Nokia’s official words followed in.

Much more written there as facts, but in past everyone has seen that its been play of words only (which was the last handset from Nokia that he praised and didn’t called a fail? Not even Nokia 5800), but still he claimed the followings:

  1. Nokia never asked for returning the alleged proto (Not denying to have it)
  2. He tried to return, but no one replied his so important, generous and ‘numerous’ emails
  3. Nokia not trying to send thugs or trying to nail him
  4. Nokia hasn’t asked for closing down mobile-review.com or jailing Eldar

The issue is that Word of mouth been much important in now days for market and some times people even taking advantage of same. It was just caring for PR that Apple didn’t went for kill, when Gizmodo spoiled what was their years worth, it was just caring for same PR that Nokia could only said “we’d like our prototype back. Please

Its their own prototype, even has mention of the same on it, stores are all around the globe that one could drop the proto back, but still they were helpless saying Please for their own thing and answerless since April 27, 2010.

Eldar’s excuse, he has been on ‘vacation’, so didn’t got any letter even if received in office, Nokia has no proof that he received any letter as he wasn’t in office. How innocent this guy is… even Gizmodo wasn’t. He also admit that Nokia sent him mail about sending their properties back, but what was his reply? He said which device in particular, I am testing many of them? Please mention.

One can really understand that how annoying it might be for a company that trying hard to nice with one, who even after stealing their property, ruining their strategies, ruining their PR and knowing exactly what they are talking about asks back that which proto you talking about?? Is their any law exists about own property, own expense, own hard work? Any moral?

May be we enjoyed Gizmodo, when he leaked out one of the biggest secret people were after, may be Gizmodo earned a lot from that. May be Mobile-Review.com earning good attention due to Edlar, but don’t you think that it will lead to worse for bloggers all around the world? Aren’t the respect or a little relaxations we blogger enjoy now days gonna be on sake, when some of biggies show such disrespect to laws and morals?

I know there are many around with a complete bias and they are searching for one sided info only, but still I thought to engage the man himself on some irritating questions … see what happened today July 07, 2010

Apple iPhone 4 launch, the truth and Nokia N8

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

Can you sell a comb to someone completely bald and who might even know the fact very well that he can’t get hairs now?” – perhaps the most famous, funny, but very true lesson of marketing. Thanks Steave for being here and making us realize the basic lesson again.

Apple shares got a 2% drop after the launch of iPhone 4, while many might have expected it to rise at the moment. Yes!! sure you could relate it with other factors and also could come up with that even Google seen a drop, so I should leave it here only… to let you think yourself. We just got the same what Gizmodo already predicted but still … Enhanced resolution, Video calling, a new OS, HSPDA/HSUPA .. everything we know already and have used but still Apple is always the ‘first’ …Iphone4? for 5mp non-carlzeiss? Paid video editor? For money eating apps from day one? For Skype’s alter Facetime ? For a price like netbook?

Apple iPhone 4, sure a hell of exciting device with Apple A4 processor (some calling it 1GHz), a brand new iOS 4, just 9.3 mm thick, weight 137 gm, geo tagging enabled still and video camera, spectacular resolution of 640×960, accelerometer, proximity sensor, three axis-gyro sensor, HSPDA 7.2 mbos and HSUPA surprisingly 5.76 mbps .. the list grows more with new apps and features.

Appleiphone4blue-n8

For specs and other things, you could leave the page and head to GSMArena link or anywhere else. No need to read it more from here.

Here, I will talk about basics behind key features displayed on their website, the truth, the innovation, the possibility to beat them or even significance of them ….

FaceTime: Steave is really a marketing genius about inventing terms and I would sure will be much grateful to him, if his this new term could give a boost to video calling. Yes!! FaceTime is just video calling. A feature, which been known to Nokia Customers from ages (though available on UMTS Networks only), just that feature is not on wi-fi, but on GSM Network (Nokia!! sure its your failure to miss this simple thing). If you talking about Wi-Fi, then Skype is already on Ovi Stores, to work on not only wi-fi but on any internet connection like 3G or EDGE.

steave[1]

Someone please correct me, if I am wrong to think that its already there from long

Jokes, argument and babblings aside, sure its a new thing even if it existed here in another form from ages. I am not sure that existing Video Calling or Skype making use of both the cameras with the same ease. As much I know.. its truly the first. Not for the technology, but for the innovation as Steave always called for his company. If I loved Nokia N900 for integrating Contacts with web contacts like Gtalk and Skype, then sure iPhone has reasons to be loved for extending the same even further.

But question is.. are people really using it? Aren’t Apple itself hesitated, that’s why it launched over Wi-Fi only? Are you really offering such a price that many could buy it? What’s point of being on twitter, if you are following just few and just few following you?

Definitely Apple iPhone 4 gets a +1 here for the innovation, not the technology and this makes the first challenge to Nokia, Are you ready to take the challenge or just adding and removing Skype will be your way? This sure not leveraging the potential could be explored.

Retina Display: This terminology really got me smiling that night. Sure, its the biggest resolution 640×960 on phone screen till date (though Nokia N900 was not very far with 800×480 resolution), but Steave really knew that how to present the same fact more impressively rather than just listing the numbers. More pixel counts… we techies understand, but common fans understand the way Steave tells.

But point to think is that how much resolution really matters? It was more better, if Steave would have announced the support for xVid, divX and all such formats natively like he did for PDFs. Without that… tell me what you really gonna do with those thousands more pixels on just a 3.5” device? I have not found any reason yet with current capabilities of iPhone4.

Needs are at a side as they could be generated over innovations, but still I’ll call it a  +1 more for Apple, no reasons to deny it and the second challenge for Nokia, why a step back from the spectacular resolution of Nokia N900? Its same way pathetic like Apple’s bringing basic multi-tasking only and calling it ‘feature’.

Yes! we understand, given the price point, its not the flagship actually and we need to wait for watching the real thing, Nokia N9, but still it doesn’t make sense to give such a ‘poor’ resolution to a device capable of snapping 12MP pictures. I guess Nokia lovers should thank Apple to hit Nokia hard on this point.

Multi-Tasking: This remained as biggest surprise to me that why Steave didn’t thought some special term for Apple kind of multi-tasking.. Lol!!! There will be always a slight demarcation line that till when you actually making people know what they want and when you arrogantly think that you know what they want. Multi-Tasking is bad as it drains battery.. Bullshit!!!! Steave went diplomatic over Multi-Tasking and it already cleared that how far iPhone 4 will go in comparison of Nokia over this.

Apple gets a -2 here or I could have given more less if they wouldn’t have admitted the need of multi-tasking even now. You are no way closer to the multi-tasking  as we know it. Check the video of even much old Nokia device, N82 multi tasking in action.

HD Recording and Editing: I am much happy that Nokia answered the same on very next day. HD recording.. something only for which, I bought my Sony Digital Camera in around 20k. After removing the need of Digital Cameras at all, now only this was remained. Digicam what digicam?

If its been pathetic on Nokia side to step back on resolution thing, then same way cheapness for Apple for keeping the video editing iMovie on a cost of $5 ? Insane.. probably like people would have called when Microsoft asked price for their DOS. May be Steave thought the same and sure developers have right to earn for their work, but still the way, buying an apple means keep on paying, its sure not that great value for money and sometimes even much frustrating too like this.

Nokia gets +1 here and sure it was way beautiful to answer Apple by releasing the video editing app video on day next to iPhone 4 release.

5 MP Camera with Led Flash: Might be a good news for Apple fanatics, whatever hard Steave may try to say that Mega Pixel doesn’t count. We all know what’s worth a nice camera is. Single Led Flash? Some joke? Leave N82 aside, even an Nokia X2 offers 5MP with single LED.

Steave better not say anything over this. You are not even there to compete Nokia on this ground. We will see, if iPhone 4 could produce pictures even better than my Nokia N82.

Nokia gets +1 here and even a bonus +1 more. Look like we shouldn’t expect Apple to compete on this before iPhone7 at least. LOL!

Design and Looks: Definitely only this been a huge plus for Apple and their most of thing circle around the same. Even if they compromise over something then it has to be due to necessity of keeping the same sleek look that even buy hardcore Nokia Users like me.

appleiphone

Apple has a +2 here and will always have. Reason.. Nokia can’t go back and start taking decisions over dilemmas like style or sensibility in favour of the first. Nokia has chosen to be all and they should keep their ways. Sure, iPhone 4 might be 3mm thinner than Nokia N8, but if those 3mm brings you 12 mp camera and worth of years trust on your needs, then it worth it and if you are talking about looks then hold your breaths.. did I said that Apple will always be a winner in this department..?? I apologize … 😉

Lots I could have said and lots could been said that what Nokia should do next to counter it, but the released video signaled that Nokia knows what they should do. Still I will mark my words… Nokia you need to give all your guts on resolution next time and video calling required right now.

So, finally its July 2010 for Nokia N8

If you have your eyes on a new Nokia N8, the time is getting close. The countdown timer at the Helsinki HQ of Nokia reads 44 days and 7 hours until launch.

Nokia N8 Vs Nokia N900-Which one you want?

[tweetmeme source=”mrnitishkumar” only_single=”false”]

The looks that will make you believe in things like Love at first sight, the price that make you fear that will you be able to get one before the stock runs out, the big amoled multi-touch shiny screen that find you only dreaming that how will be that like touching to it and a 12 MP with amazing build, which keeping you on toe that when you will get that one to make others envy. Yes!! I am talking about Nokia N8.

But hey!! wait a little, there might be another news in the corner, something else coming to India sooner than that. Yes!! that thing is known to be Techie’s best dream and opening new possibilities by each next day. Yes!! You guessed right, its Nokia N900. I already wrote that there are strong hints that it might land to India very soon and someone also said that price might be around 26-28k. So, which one you will buy? Nokia N8 or Nokia N900?

update: Nokia N900 got released in India on June 04, 2010. Though we got a price Rs. 30, 369/- not any lesser. Current market price of Nokia N900 in New Delhi as on June 30, 2010 is Rs. 25, 900/- and as this is Nokia Priority Dealer price, sure they must be better deal than this with HotSpot etc.

Interesting is that I haven’t seen a single person that might be ready to change his Nokia N900 for any other phone, either it be iPhone or any Android. Its really something that is growing like some wild fever without being hyped or even without that much backing by the manufacturer itself (unfortunately). We were really tired of hearing thing around iPhone that I got this app, I bought that app, how cool this app is and blah blah … but with Nokia N900, some new and real world seems to be opening. With a closing of around 3-4k price difference, Nokia N900 seems to be all set for keeping consumers highly confused about the choice between the two flagship models once N8 arrives.

I thought that its right to compare the two around the features offered and possibilities here as definitely a new debate is just around the corner that which one should be bought now?

1. Design, Build and UI: There will always be views that what is better, having a awesome physical keypad with you to make most of typing or having a shiny touch screen, that keeps your fingers always etching to slide on? Nokia N8 so far sure ride on the best build from Nokia so far, sure rising the bar much higher than the last Flagship Nokia N97 MIni. More of it, nothing seems more solid than a closed one piece build like Nokia N8 has. But at the same time, you can’t write off the tough male look of Nokia N900 as well. Nothing seemed as solid before. I guess it’ll be left over the choice of individuals.

On the other side, Nokia N900 houses such a nice keypad that people even might crave for something like same on now days Netbooks. It will be seriously interesting to watch that how will a touch screen keypad will fair against something this much awesome, when currently Nokia seems not support multi-touch of keyboard (No Ctrl+C).

Take a look, I am comparing Touch UI’s of Android and iPhone with Physical Keypad of Nokia N900.

keypadnexusiphone keypad

Definitely, for many its not a pleasant sacrifice provided the studies that says touch keypad are less efficient than physical ones and it keeps the rumors on for the next NSeries device Nokia N98 with Symbian^3, probably the same 12 MP camera, but incorporating physical keypad with same sleek design (Check the pics).

Nokia N98Nokia-N8-10

Well! personally I really wish to see that how touch UI keypad of Nokia N8’s big screen will fare against Nokia N900’s real convenience that kept me writing many blog posts directly from Nokia N900 only.

Next is about UI, honestly speaking, we haven’t seen much of exciting things about Symbian^3 except that multiple desktop thing. Reason is, it was the Russian site that prompted Nokia to go for announcing the half baked phone, otherwise when Vladislav Savov of Engadget visited Nokia HQ, then he was not presented with a proto-type with NOT working UI, sure a sign that the OS not fully operational yet.

Accept it, till now Symbian^3 might have excited the world in conversations only, yet it remained much to show off in pictures and video, where if we compare the same with Maemo, then we already seen that what wonder could be done with a mere Non-Capacitive UI. Definitely Symbian^3 needs to surprise us hard, if wanted people to forget Maemo for Symbian or MeeGo.

I will say even if lighter weight and sharp build Nokia N8 catches the eye instantly, Nokia N900 keeps the trust with majestic keypad, while Symbian^3 yet to show its full glory, definitely its gonna be hard to ignore N900’s magical Maemo.

2. Connectivity: One of the first phones to support Bluetooth 3.0, USB on the Go, HDMI and all of the other connectivity options that Nokia N900 supported, Nokia N8 is sure ready to hit the competitors big time. Many people says that Nokia like to tick all the checks in specifications and even after doing all end up doing things just ok or badly. But this time, its something seriously to be watched out. It sure beats even Nokia N900 in this department and sure lovely because at least on Symbian, we could expect a perfectly working Radio App for receiving/ transmitting and may be my personal favourite Google Maps app.

bluetooth-3-0USB-on-The-GoNokia-N8-HDMI-Port

For me, I wish to see that how much battery will fair using all these connectivity options as in case of Nokia N900, I have seen that if I keep on using 3G on full go, then it ended up draining the batteries even if being continuously charged by being connected to Laptop. What about the 1200 mAh battery of Nokia N8 in comparison to 1320 mAh of Nokia N900?

3. Touch Vs. Multi-Touch: Nokia definitely has surprised many by announcing Nokia N8 in a price of around 22, 000/- even when packing other first in world features like Bluetooth and a 16GB memory. Fight will be with now more equipped iPhone 4G touch experience, but many expect Nokia be more ready this time through considerable inputs from touch design of N900.

Resistive Screen             VS         Capacitive Screen

Nokia N900 sure came to re-define the touch for Nokia and it has to move further with Nokia N8 even if that might be an entirely another OS. Multi-touch really re-defines the meaning of touch and the same kept iPhone ride on market big times. Sure, Nokia N8 with good things added from N900 will come to provide more lighter feel of Multi-touch. Perhaps much of reasons to buy it.

4. Maemo Vs Symbian: Maemo is probably the biggest reason behind the new hopes with Symbian^3, otherwise many had given up over Nokia that inspite of good hardware and best of the prices. Experts and bloggers called it Nokia’s obsession with Symbian that’s making it loose the grounds in front of revolutionary Android or iPhone OS.

maemosymbian3

Arrival of Qt was to bring some hopes and probably with Symbian^3, we could expect to see that in full glory, but still Nokia N900 will stand tall with its Open source and very much user familiar Maemo in front of Nokia N8 and Symbian^3. Probably one of the biggest reason that we are calling for some kind of comparison here. Openness of Maemo is something that couldn’t be compared with anyone. In spite of early bugs and complaints about immaturity at places, only Maemo has bring the scenario that at each next day, we hear about new people doing new things with their Nokia N900.

Many will voice my concern that they fear if with Meego, they gonna loose the same flexibility that Maemo provided and so have their reasons to stick with Nokia N900. Not only Geeks, but even normal people love Linux based Maemo, because its the only place in Smartphones, where you could expect some multimedia player playing all kind of multimedia files, where you could expecting getting some free program to record the calls as easily as you were on some Desktop, only thing that could let you check the logs if something went wrong.

Yes!! we want capabilities of Nokia N8, but still we love Maemo’s openness more. It remains to be see that who will win?

Lots could be said about these and I just wished to point the debate that would take place over web very soon, when Nokia N8 trial units will be out and people will get a feel of real things. Let’s see, who will go more strong? Will after the early excitement with Nokia N8, Nokia N900 will still keep world’s interest in it or Symbian^3 will come to change the game?

Waiting for your comments, more things that could be compared between the two, more things that could have been mentioned here.. anything that you wish to share about the two… you are most welcome.
