Magic! Gravity build 6757 bring name substring search for Autocomplete

This is never a coincidence, never been .. whenever.. consistently whenever Symbian fans felt down .. there was always a name Gravity that always strikes back to bring the confidence in Symbian… to bring the confidence that there is still something that we lead into. Yes! anyone can guess that what I am talking about … yes! Gravity got a new update and this time, this is sure worth talking about.

Finally, @janole recently has started delivering in-app updates about which he has been shy in past due to piracy issues and so rather than looking at the blog posts, users can directly get the latest version from gravity from Gravity itself. And yes, a short change log is also there as follows:

Update: @janole just released the another version Gravity 1.5 Build 6712 for giving the same auto completion love to S60 v3 phones and some improvements for S60 V5/ S^3 as well.

Sorry friends, I am not covering Symbian PR2.0 for now

I know many of you expecting me to write on the same, but the delay in delivery is as disappointing to me as it is for you. Specially when we already seen three products (one even in retail market) with new version of software, while we all “early adapters” a.k.a. “experiment animals” (as in words of a reader) are kept waiting.

It hurts to see Symbian and Symbian users in such state as a new browser or portrait qwerty like things are no such things that should have come to Symbian now. I still consider browser as just fine but lack of even decent input system is getting unforgiveable now.

If any of those Symbian developers ever would have tried to type for a captcha on some site, then they would have chosen not to release any of the touch device rather than releasing such a shameless input system.

Yes! I am extremely sorry, if you wished me to write about the minor details of the upcoming update or to extract the info from the official blog or videos to deliver them in layman’s language, I am not covering the news as of now.

In no way, I am done with Symbian. I still have my Nokia N8, Nokia N82 close to me and still will keep on reviewing Nokia devices (specially looking for E7-00 though been in waiting list till now), but reading\ writing about PR2.0 now only increases frustrations. So.. having a break.

And yes! like I said on April 10-11, be assured, PR2.0 is coming in May and most probably week 1.

Layman’s take on Ovi chat for Symbian^3-Works Great!

Yup! its finaaaaaaaaaally here. After a really long wait, Ovi Chat for Symbian^3 devices has made its way to the  public release.

Most of us expected otherwise, and it’s surprising to see that Ovi Chat has made its way through the Ovi Store and not from Nokia Betalabs first, just as how it has always been, since a while. This shows that the client was ready much before the release daye but didn’t go public for some reasons, little known to you and me. (maybe the Yahoo! deal or something else).

The installation will not only bring the app to your Symbian device, but will also include a very productive home screen widget as well. A widget that can set your status, show you unread chat messages in short and the take care of all the services registered. Check out the above screenshots to see how it shows the last unread chat with time stamp as well. Neat.

Symbian^3 receives another update PR1.2, still not THAT update

Sorry friends for being away for a little longer while and specially sorry that I am still not done with the upcoming posts related to SGS, not even started yet. But will be back very soon.

Update: Sorry to bring the bad news again, but its almost confirmed now that there will be no PR2.0 before the summers that will be May/ June effectively. I know you wont believe me easily considering the recent rumors floating on the air, but there are big reasons to believe on it now.

If one only want to count the numbers then symbian^3 really been frequent about the updates than any other Symbian version ever been, but still since the day of launch, though the updates bring us a little smile here and there, still the wait for PR2.0 been making symbian lovers impatient.

Like now, Symbian^3 received another firmware update PR1.2 and this been such microscopic that it was hard to spot the changes on the user end though here goes the official change log.

#NokiaConnect-Nokia Find and Connect app coming soon

It looks like the new Nokia Social is coming soon to redefine the meaning of social communication, through a new app named Nokia Find and Connect (Nokia’s new personal indoor social location service).

More details about the same will start popping up over the internet very soon, as its already being demoed by many of the bloggers , but with what’s known so far, it tells us that this app defines your presence inside a room over WiFi [functioning as in-house GPS] and creates a connected sphere of people within. It connects you to people and their social networks using indoor positioning and much more, pretty cool right?
