The Big PR2.0 Changelog for Nokia C7-00 RM-691 (With Screenshots, video added)

While in the last post, I’d reported about the availability of PR2.0 for T-mobile Nokia C7-00 RM-691, its time to go into the full details of  the Changelog with relevant screenshots here. (Thanks to Gaurav009 of Dailymobile forum).

1. New portrait qwerty keyboard

Portrait QWERTY split input surely looks much better, richer and well spaced than @janole’s Gravity, hope it’s also responsive enough. Swype comes pre-installed as the default keyboard but its still a separate app and does require the restart of the device to enable it, not integrated into Keyboard as I wished earlier. But wait, the shocking part is you don’t get Swype for Portrait  mode as of now and we’re not sure if its available for split screen either.  (I guess its not).

The theme, you are watching here is an official one and many new themes with Midnight brandings are  going to appear in the list of themes from now on.

Though I am wondering that how the split screen portrait will work with conversation mode or third party applications like Nimbuzz.

Exclusive-PR2.0 Firmware version 20.37 is live for C7-00 RM-691?

We kept on hearing that PR2.0 is coming soon and in fact coming sooner than early summers, but finally we got a real proof of the same just now. It seems that Symbian^3 PR2.0, which should be some 20.xx version, has already arrived at the official Nokia Servers for quality assurance.

Our good old Navifirm helped us again to see this ourselves, though a confusion prevails. There are two products with the same name Nokia C7, but the one with RM-691, the T-Mobile version, seems to have gotten the firmware 20.37.

The available firmware version 20.37, are for the two product codes, 059F8H2 and 059H0B6.

Update: This  is the same model codenamed Tiger as reported by TMONews here. It seems that there will be many new devices on sale once PR2.0 gets out. Will 21-22 March be the date? Will the latest video from Womworld/Nokia hinting gaming geek Nokia X7-00 be out by the same date?

Laymans take: Unboxing Nokia BH-905i

There has been a long gap after last time, I’d received a Nokia E5-00/BH-217 from the great folks (Lydia, Paul & Hugo this time) at Womworld/Nokia and they yet again heard of the child inside me craving for new gadgets. After the white E5-00 beauty, this time the show was in the name of the big Nokia BH-905i (the big brother of BH-905, I’d received in the past along with  the E72).

Sometimes, I think why I love blue so much. Might be because Facebook is blue, Orkut sported a blue theme initially, twitter also had a blue tint or these blue Nokia boxes. Nokia Booklet 3G, Nokia N8-00, then the Nokia E5-00 and now this, the Nokia BH-905i.

Pixelpipe gives Google Apps a treat on Symbian^3

Reading the buzz on web makes you feel that there is no excitement in being with Nokia now, except the ever long wait for PR1.1, 2.0, 3.0 etc and then saying that its not “that”, but when you look back to real world, then you see something totally different … people still ask you that “which one to buy, E5 or E72?”, “How good is E7?”, “Are C3/C5 best VFM out there?” … you still feel eyes over you when you flaunt your Nokia N8 …. you visit a mobile store and see that dozens of people still buying Nokia … and you ask yourself is the platform really dead?

After Gravity from @Janole, this time the well known pixelpipe team decided to give a treat to Symbian by launching their Google Apps application (In beta as of now).

Its a much different app from what we known @pixelpipe people for and while in first glance, it looked like similar creation as was of our friend @asrialbaker, but when I digged deeper then I found things really a step up here.

You just need to give your Google credentials once and it presents you four of the top Google services in a beautifully effective manner for you.

Today they have released another version of the same app while the first beta was send to a few of us by last night itself, so I will start from the latest version only (The latest is about to release on Ovi Store soon, the third revision).

Did the N8-01 with QWERTY just get leaked?

Important: As Tom has already mentioned in the comments section, please take it as humor only post and not some official\unofficial leak. I’ve already explained that this may not be a Nokia at all. My point is mainly not about the ‘leak’, its about other things that I have gone through in the later section of the post.

Thanks to @mlymehta, we got reported of something special which happened today. Nokia’s PR agency, WOMWorld/Nokia had posted the below pictures on one of their blog posts, though they removed the same after a while, after a couple of reports. But yeah, a few were quick enough to take screenshots of the same like the one given below.

If you think that’s an E7-00, you’re wrong. Apart from the apparently lower screen size, the most prominent difference would be  the 3-Rw QWERTY in this, compared to the 4-Row QWERTY of the Nokia E7-00.

Layman’s take-Solving Nokia N8 hard reset simplest possible way

Update: Thanks to @duggalsunil for bringing this new post in reference of the issue in my notice. Its seems that N8 Hard Reset issue is a non-issue now and after hard reset/ 3 finger reset, one can easily restore Ovi Store etc by just checking into SW Update. If one gonna try the same, then please update me with your experience.

Qt while being core of upcoming awesomeness on Symbian, been a problem for it at the same time due the transition/development phase of tech as of now and one of the biggest issue been Nokia N8 Hard Reset. Let’s share my own experience about the same and the easiest solution around the same issue with official means.

After getting assurance from a few of blogs and official words, a few of us started getting convinced that Symbian^3 PR1.1 finally came to resolved the infamous Nokia N8 Hard Reset bug, but still many like me didn’t went for trying the same myself and last night it came out to be that we were right.

While common sense said that if in place of going through the unofficial three finger hard reset, if one goes through the official factory reset (I added Delete data and restore), then it should not brick the phone, but thanks to transition phase and under development Qt, common sense doesn’t apply here.
